News Release Release Date: October 9, 2007 U.S. Department of Labor to offer free health law seminar November 7 and 8 in Minneapolis Minneapolis – A free health law compliance assistance seminar, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Minnesota Department of Commerce, will take place November 7 and 8 at the Millennium Hotel, 1313 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. The seminar is part of EBSA’s health education campaign to help workers and employers, especially small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various health benefits laws. Sessions will cover the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other federal benefits laws under Part 7 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Information also will be presented on fiduciary responsibility, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, health savings accounts and HIPAA privacy. Panelists will include representatives of EBSA, the Labor Department’s Employment Standards Administration, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
