AboutJobs.com, Inc.

AboutJobs.com proudly supports the SummerJobs+ effort and will be actively participating in the initiative through its seasonal employment job board SummerJobs.com and internship site InternJobs.com. SummerJobs.com has been working since 1996 to connect summer and seasonal employers with young job seekers across the US. We strongly believe that a summer job or internship is a necessary first step towards building the skills, confidence and experience a teenager will need for successful long-term career development and will be making thousands of summer employment opportunities and internships available to candidates through the Summer Jobs+ Bank. We will also be offering free summer internship postings on InternJobs.com.

AfterCollege.com

AfterCollege is a career network that helps college students and entry-level job seekers find their first job or internship. As part of its commitment to youth, AfterCollege is helping employers participate in Summer Jobs+ by letting them make their opportunities discoverable on the Summer Jobs+ Bank at no cost. AfterCollege is also helping cities like San Francisco launch their own local Summer Jobs+ programs by providing the technology that lets youth age 16-24 connect with employers offering summer jobs and internships.

American Association of People with Disabilities 

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is committed to improving employment outcomes for the many people with disabilities who are ready, willing, and able to work. The AAPD Summer Internship Program will provide 30 young people with disabilities the opportunity to engage in ten weeks of public service through paid internships on Capitol Hill, in federal agencies, nonprofits, and for-profit businesses.

Ascension Health

As the nation's largest Catholic and nonprofit health system, Ascension Health is transforming healthcare by providing the highest quality care to all, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our national ministry is also committed to providing development opportunities for America's youth by offering high school and college students more than 650 unique opportunities to build life and work skills through paid and unpaid internships, job shadowing programs and development workshops. Located in 21 states and the District of Columbia, Ascension Health will help students learn important skills, gain credible work experience and build relationships with others as we serve communities throughout our healing ministry.

Assurance for Tomorrows' Leaders Youth Foundation, Inc.

Assurance for Tomorrows' Leaders (ATLs) Youth Foundation, Inc. is committed to providing 50 summer jobs to adolescent girls ages 14 to 16 living in the City of New Orleans in 2012 through our INSTILLettos Girls Summer Program. This summer, as part of the Summer Jobs+ initiative, we will serve approximately 20 to 25 disadvantaged girls age 16. We implement a six week curriculum that engages youth with female entrepreneurs. We will host mock job fairs to equip youth with job interviewing skills, take youth on academic and beauty college campus tours, teach proper etiquette, communication, physical and mental wellness, and much more. These opportunities will help participants develop life, social and entrepreneurship skills and will help improve success in school, career and ultimately in life. Throughout the year-long girls program, we've partnered with Goodwill Industries, National Alliance for a Healthier Generation, LSU Ag Center-4h Youth Development Program, Institute of Women and Ethnic Studies (IWES) and Positive Image Modeling and Etiquette to provide an evidence-based curriculum that keeps participants engaged and helps them make a successful transition into adulthood.

AT&T

AT&T is committed to providing nearly 350 summer jobs in 2012 through a variety of summer jobs initiatives. These opportunities help students, from high school to recent college graduates, develop skills and gain insight while preparing them to more successfully enter the job market. Examples of our summer opportunities for college students include our leadership development internships in the fields of finance, retail, IT and engineering, as well as our participation in college internship initiatives with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program. In addition to these unique opportunities, we also provide high school students the opportunity to experience the world of work through the Mayor's Interns Fellows Program for Dallas high school students and the Christ the King Corporate Internship Program in Newark, NJ. Also in 2012, we will reach our initial goal of providing 100,000 high school students with the opportunity to learn more about career options and what it takes to be successful in today's workforce through our AT&T/JA Worldwide Job Shadow initiative.

Bank of America

Bank of America, as part of its broader three-year $50 million goal to support education and workforce development opportunities for underserved populations, will continue to invest significantly in youth and young adults in 2012, including 1,500 paid internships at the company and local nonprofits as well as job placement programs, in conjunction with more than 80,000 hours from employee volunteers. Recognizing the value of mentoring to help make opportunities possible for young people, Bank of America served as the primary sponsor of the National Mentoring Partnership's 2011 National Mentoring Summit, at which the Corporate Mentoring Challenge was launched. In 2011, Bank of America invested more than $15 million, and its employees volunteered more than 75,000 hours to help youth and young adults attain life and work skills to propel them towards long-term success.

Baxter International Inc.

Baxter International Inc. pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by expanding their education initiative, Science@Work. As an extension of Science@Work — a multiyear commitment to support teacher training and student development in healthcare and biotechnology through a partnership with Chicago Public Schools — Baxter will reach 300-500 students. These students will participate in a variety of programs: the Career Training Program, in which Baxter professionals will assist students with career planning, soft skill development and interviewing skills; the 2012 Summer Job Shadowing program, in which students will participate in a unique shadowing experience with young Baxter professionals; and through Science @Work Community of Support, in which students will participate in an on-going relationship management program that provides counsel and professional support during college careers.

Bender Consulting Services, Inc.

Bender Consulting Services, Inc. is committed to investing in youth who are living with disabilities, to support the development of life and work skills required by private and public sector employers. Partnering with local high-schools in Pittsburgh, PA and Newark, DE, Bender Consulting, through the year-long Bender Leadership Academy Program will train 60 high-school students with disabilities, many who are low-income, about how to be successful in the world of work. Four students who complete this program will work on a short-term paid summer internship in Bender Consulting's offices in Pittsburgh, PA. Bender Consulting will also provide two to four, 12 week summer HR internships to low income youth, including youth with disabilities.

Better Community Inc.

Better Community Inc. in partnership with Future Church of Christ Holiness USA pledge to support Summer Jobs+ by providing 200 youth ages 16 to 24 training throughout the summer. We will provide youth in Richmond, Virginia with workshops on financial literacy, resume writing and interview skills. Seminars on financial literacy will use the "Cashflow101" educational tool developed by Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad for Kids, and will focus on budgeting, credit, cash flow, eliminating debt, investing, and business ownership. Throughout the program, Better Community Inc. staff members will be encouraged to develop a mentoring relationship with youth participants. Additionally youth can opt-in to a free one week training program to explore careers in the travel industry. Training includes booking cruises, flights, special event, luxury hotel and resorts.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association is pleased to support Summer Jobs+ as part of its long-standing commitment to providing pathways to employment for America's youth and young adults. Through its summer internship program and related community based diversity activities, BCBSA will provide at least 30 undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to obtain hands-on experience in a wide range of health care-related areas, including public policy and government affairs, marketing, business and strategy development, customer service, and member engagement. With support from Independence Blue Cross (IBC), a leading health plan in Philadelphia, PA, BCBSA will also be working with its 38 member Plans to provide additional opportunities for students across the country. For nearly a decade, IBC has successfully partnered with the City of Philadelphia and The Philadelphia Youth Network, a nationally recognized leader in youth workforce development, to offer more than 500 at-risk youths "WorkReady" paid summer internships, mentoring, and personal and professional development opportunities. This year, IBC is expanding its program to encourage more high school students planning to attend college to continue their IBC experience through the company's college internship program.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is committed to providing 30,000 opportunities in 2012 for Club members ages 16-18. In support of Summer Jobs+, Boys & Girls Clubs across the country will provide on the job training through job shadow days for approximately 10,000 Club members. Clubs will also offer job readiness and career development opportunities to a minimum of 20,000 Club members and young people in local communities. Participants will be trained in resume writing, interviewing, and workplace etiquette to help increase their employability.

Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay

The Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay is committed to preparing young people to graduate from high school, ready for college, trade school, military, or employment. To accomplish this objective, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay offers the Teens 2 Work (T2W) program to provide teens with the training and experience needed to successfully enter the job market for the first time. Following a three part program progression, T2W engages teens in the CareerLaunch, Money Matters, and Junior Staff curricula to develop employability skills, build financial awareness, and explore entry level jobs and long term careers – all while earning a paycheck. During summer of 2012, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay is committed to providing 25 teens with paid employment opportunities as Junior Staff in our two Green Bay Clubhouses. Moreover, 50 additional opportunities for job training and skill development will be provided to teens during a 2012 summer session of the T2W program.

Bread for the World

Bread for the World located in Washington, D.C. is committed to supporting Summer Jobs+ by providing two career exploration workshops for nearly 200 young people ages 16-24. Through these trainings, students will learn that they can make a career out of tweeting and taking photos. These two workshops will highlight careers in nonprofit communication such as event planner, social media specialist, video producer, graphics designer, web master, writer, language translator, photographer, and reporter.

Bright Horizons

Bright Horizons will commit to adding at least 1,000 summer jobs in our centers/summer camps and schools and two internships based in our support office, for youth between 18-25 targeting. We will also commit to advancing our life skills work in partnership with local high schools, community colleges and social service agencies to advance the exposure to, and readiness for, careers in early education for low income and disaffected youth. In addition, we will provide three or scholarships to promising students to help them earn degrees in early childhood education.

Camber Corporation

The Camber Corporation provides young people with real-life work experience, opportunities to enhance their professional skillsets, and mentorship from their qualified employees during paid internships. In 2011, 25% of their graduated interns were hired as full-time Camber employees to serve in the areas of accounting, engineering, and human resources. In 2012, Camber plans to offer 8 internship opportunities.

Cambia Health Solutions

Cambia Health Solutions is pleased to partner with Portland State University to co-host four life skills training sessions for up to 200 participants. At Cambia, we value the diversity of the communities we serve, our members, and our employees. We are passionate about encouraging students and Veterans in the Pacific Northwest and Mountain region to pursue educational programs and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In support of our commitment to diversity and the Summer Jobs+ initiative, Cambia is dedicated to further developing the 30 summer interns they will hire this year. Cambia is a nonprofit total health solutions company with community roots dating back to 1917. We advocate for transforming the health care system by making health care more affordable and accessible, increasing consumers' engagement in their health care decisions, and offering a diverse range of products and services that promote the health and well being of our members.

Campus2Careers.com

Campus2Careers is excited to help power the Summer Jobs+ Bank with thousands of opportunities at startups, small to mid-sized businesses, and nonprofits. In addition, campus2careers will match students and recent grads with the right internship, part-time, or full-time job, based on their unique skills and interests. On campus2careers, youth can stop searching for a job and get matched with one in 20 minutes or less.

Cannon Industries 

As its ongoing mission to support youth in the Rochester, NY, Cannon Industries has committed to helping students excel in the contract manufacturing industry by providing five internships to help promote careers in engineering, sheet metal and custom weld fabricators. Cannon Industries has an impressive history of working with the Urban League of Rochester, NY to support youth career development in this area.

Capital Workforce Partners

Capital Workforce Partners is committed to creating 125 new employer-paid jobs in the North Central Connecticut region for low-income youth ages 16-20 in 2012. To create these opportunities, Capital Workforce Partners has launched a four-city wide youth employment campaign. In partnership with the Mayors of Hartford, New Britain, Manchester and Bristol and the Chambers of Commerce, we have asked the private sector in those cities to hire youth. Companies large and small ranging from insurance and finance, to law, retail, manufacturing and healthcare are stepping up to the challenge. From February - April of this year, Capital Workforce Partners and each Mayor held employer recruitment breakfasts with a strong call to action to hire youths for the summer and beyond. On April 11th, a Career Fair was held for over 100 students. Employers will have another opportunity to get to know these students at a May 10th Skills Challenge.

CareerBuilder

As the job market shifts, so do the needs of our businesses and workers—and CareerBuilder will be there every step of the way, empowering employment. As part of this charter, Careerbuilder LLC has committed to driving nearly 20K internships, summer jobs and entry level positions to the Summer Jobs + Initiative. In addition, we offer a host of online courses that job seekers can take to supplement their skills and make them more attractive to prospective employers.

Careerimp, Inc.

Careerimp, Inc. is a web-based company with the mission of improving the way job seekers find and apply to jobs. To support Summer Jobs+, Careerimp is committed to providing 600 predominantly low-income youth ages 16-24 with career training opportunities. In partnership with the Pittsburgh Promise Scholars' Initiative, a program of the Community College of Allegheny County, Careerimp will provide life-skill workshops focused on resume and cover letter preparation to 400 Promise graduates. To further enrich the experience of interning in Pittsburgh, Careerimp will coordinate cultural and professional enrichment activities around the region for 200 youth participating in paid internships throughout the summer.

CBL Sports 

CBL Sports pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by creating a new internship program that helps students in the Chicago area learn about the importance of healthy competition and fitness. Most importantly, CBL educates the youth about others careers in the sports industry to help them explore other job options that are not exposed to them in their communities. The CBL Sports High School Internship Program is designed to provide high school students with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in running a sports league, not just on the field but the behind the scenes business as well. It provides students the opportunity to expand their extracurricular activities while gaining skills that will benefit them in running a business. Students are exposed to professionals such as entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, teachers, professional athletes and a whole host of others. Students will walk away with better communication and business skills but most importantly an extraordinary experience. CBL Sports partners with strategic organizations and establishes altruistic relationships to promote the leagues and "fitness awareness" throughout Chicago's communities.

CBS Interactive

CBS Interactive is committed to providing a minimum of 50 paid internships to a diverse population of college and university students ages 18-24 across the country. Since 2008, CBSi's formal internship program has provided paid internships in sports, entertainment, technology, gaming and news. Our interns work on "real world" professional projects in software engineering, editing, production, web development, business development and sales with talented, dedicated, creative staff members. To expand opportunities in 2012, we are dedicated to refining the mentorship program, goal setting and evaluation processes for improved development. Interns will attend fun events, participate in technical training and executive briefings, and make an impact working on business team specific projects. Through our commitment, CBS Interactive aims to prepare a diverse population of young people for future professional opportunities in online media.

CenturyLink

CenturyLink has had summer internship programs for more than 25 years and looks forward to participating in Summer Jobs+ in 2012. CenturyLink believe that one of its strengths is the diversity of its people, and they are committed to fostering diversity among the 50 summer jobs they will hire this year.

Christine Hassler, Inc.

The mission of Christine Hassler, Inc. is to educate and empower "20 somethings" to achieve their goals and make meaningful contributions to their community. Its founder, Christine Hassler, author of Twenty-Something, Twenty Everything and The Twenty Something Manifesto, is committed to teaching life skills essential for a productive and successful adult life. In partnership with Campus2careers, Christine Hassler, Inc. pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by providing 12 webinars to 150 low-income and disconnected youth ages 16-24. Webinar topics include resume and interviewing instructions, work-related soft skills, communication techniques, time management strategies, tips for effective teamwork, money management, and personal growth.

Cisco

Cisco has a long-term commitment to investing in students at the high school, community college and university levels through the Cisco Networking Academy, college internship, and college recruitment programs. In 2012, Cisco's Networking Academy will help more than 150,000 U.S. students gain the skills needed to pursue a career and further education in information technology. Our college internship and college recruitment programs will employ 1,756 students nationally in a variety of disciplines including engineering, information technology, finance, sales and marketing.

City of Chicago

The City of Chicago responded to the President's call to action by committing to provide 973 new summer job opportunities for students through a partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS). CPS students will develop transferable skills to increase employability through job readiness training. Nearly half of these opportunities will be explicitly directed towards students at risk of academic failure.

City of Columbus

The City of Columbus, Mayor Michael B. Coleman, and Franklin County, Ohio Board of Commissioners in partnership with the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation (COWIC) have responded to the President's call To action by forming a community partnership providing 2,000 summer jobs to Franklin County youth and young adults ages 14-24 for the summer of 2012. Under the S.O.A.R.hire! Summer 2012 Program, Mayor Coleman and Franklin County Board of Commissioners President Paula Brooks challenged private sector employer and academic institutions to provide paid work experiences to young people for the summer. In addition to those employer-paid positions, County Commissioners are directing $2.7 million in federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to the effort. Community volunteers, COWIC staff, and a host of community-based, youth-serving organizations will provide work readiness training to young job seekers, and local banks have partnered with the initiative to provide financial literacy training. The S.O.A.R.hire! Initiative began with a Job Expo Series April 24th — May 30th.

City of Denver

Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock and the City of Denver have responded to President Obama's Summer Jobs+ call-to-action by pledging to provide 1,400 jobs and training opportunities for Denver's youth for this summer. The Mayor's Office and the Denver Office of Economic Development, in partnership with Denver Human Services, Denver International Airport and other city departments, will provide 700 of these opportunities through jobs and training placements developed at the public and private level. Denver is further challenging the non-profit and business communities to match this goal. The City has already garnered over $150,000 in summer youth job and training financing to support these efforts. Additionally, Denver is encouraging investments, in any amount, to support skill development, career readiness training and wages for the City's youth employment programs. Recognizing the connection between a strong workforce pipeline and future economic vitality of Denver, Mayor Hancock has further called for the expansion of Denver's youth training and employment activities in JumpStart 2012, Denver's economic development strategic plan.

Codecademy

Codecademy commits to a "Life Skills" pathways pledge through development of a "Code Summer+" program that will teach the basics of programming online as an abbreviated version of its popular Code Year program. This effort will train at least 5,000 low-income youth how to build innovative apps online. Technology companies are encouraged to participate in at least two ways – contributing lessons to support application development for students completing coursework and pledges to hold meetups to support students in person.

CodeNow

As part of its ongoing mission to develop the next pioneers in technology, CodeNow proudly supports Summer Jobs+ through a direct commitment to provide 8,000 hours of computer programming training in 2012 to 200 underrepresented high school students throughout the country. The organization will continue its efforts to narrow the digital divide by partnering with schools, community groups, nonprofit organizations, and corporations, to help students build programming skills and create direct paths to employment at America's leading technology companies.

College Bound Brotherhood

The College Bound Brotherhood, an initiative of the Mitchell Kapor Foundation, seeks to expand the number of African American young men who are prepared for a college education. The Brotherhood serves as a network for 140 college access programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, reaching over 1,000 black male youth. This March, the Brotherhood will launch a competitive program to place five Brotherhood youth into paid summer internships at Bay Area tech companies, enabling the young men to develop the exposure and skills needed to pursue tech-related studies and careers.

CollegeRecruiter.com is the leading job board for college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities. CollegeRecruiter.com features over 100,000 internship and entry-level job postings as well as tens of thousands of employment-related articles, Ask the Experts questions and answers, blogs, videos, and other content.

Communities Working 2gether (CW2)

Communities Working 2gether (CW2) is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the welfare of Saginaw County in Michigan and increasing community participation through the empowerment of youth. This summer, we pledge to help a minimum of 20 at-risk youth ages 16 to 24 develop work-related soft skills through resume writing and interviewing workshops and one-on-one consultations. We will also train youth on effective communication, time management, teamwork and proper grooming skills that will help them get on track for employment.

Community Job Club, Inc.

The Community Job Club, Inc. located in Stow, Oh pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by providing career training for 30 disadvantaged young people. Our professional career coaches will provide workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques and creating an organized job campaign. Career coaches will be encouraged to develop an ongoing mentoring relationship with participating youth. The 5 Steps to Rapid Employment, a motivational program for jobseekers created by Dynamic Works Institute and the Jay Block Companies, will be embedded in our workshops. The five modules of the program will teach youth how to seek opportunities throughout their professional and personal lives. Additionally, through our partnership with UStoWork, youth will have an opportunity to tour manufacturing facilities in the area. Through these site visits, youth will explore the 21st century manufacturing environment and observe the various career opportunities available in the industry. Once the training is complete, youth will be encouraged to attend free monthly job search workshops to continue developing their skills.

CoolWorks.com

CoolWorks.com is passionate about sharing countless jobs in and around national parks, camps, ranches, ski areas, resorts and more, with additional features to support and encourage dreaming and scheming. With plenty of entry level positions, today's youth will gain a variety of work and life experiences, have the ability to prove themselves and be promoted, grow in their confidence and their ability to interact with diverse groups of people, stretch their wings and intimately explore areas of the country and the world others wish they could simply visit once in a lifetime.

Coppin State University

Coppin State University is committed to supporting the Summer Jobs+ initiative by providing career planning and job readiness workshops plus computer software training to disenfranchised youth. In collaboration with the Coppin-Heights Rosemont Family Computer Center, the university will launch "Career JumpStart" which will engage 50 youth in developing effective job search skills. Using technology, participants will have an opportunity to take a career assessment instrument, research career options, prepare resumes and complete "mock" job applications. In addition, staff will guide participants through the basic steps in managing the job interview process, from initial preparation to post interview etiquette. "Career JumpStart" will assist participants in becoming better prepared to conduct a successful job search.

Corning

In 2012, Corning Inc. will provide over 150 jobs to college age students in a variety of roles including engineering, manufacturing, market/strategic analysis, research, development, finance, and human resources. These opportunities are designed to help students develop skills in their area of discipline while also teaching them necessary life skills in leadership, problem solving, effective communication, professional dress, and business acumen. Corning is proud of its youth hiring record, in particular its ability to convert 74% of summer interns into full-time hires at the completion of their internship and academic experience.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has made a commitment to provide approximately 4,000 disadvantaged youth with national service opportunities through AmeriCorps programs operating in the summer of 2012. The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program, funded in part through private sector commitments, will place youth in communities across the country to address poverty and hunger. In addition, AmeriCorps State and National programs will engage youth in education and conservation projects, and the AmeriCorps NCCC Summer of Service program is designed to introduce teenagers, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to national service and to foster in them such values as teamwork, responsibility, and the ethic of serving one's community. These stipended service opportunities train youth in the life and work skills, such as teamwork, problem solving, and leadership, that are critical for success in the labor market, while engaging in activities that tackle tough societal challenges.

Crossroads for Kids

Crossroads for Kids, a non-profit organization providing immersive summer camps for at-risk youth in the Greater Boston area, is committed to providing paid camp counseling jobs to 230 youth ages 18-24 this summer. Youth will work with 1,500 campers this summer and will receive training on financial literacy. As part of the Summer Jobs+ initiative, we are expanding the job description to include leadership development and post-college positive youth development career prep through soft skill workshops and mentorships.

Curvitude Boutique 

Curvitude Boutique located in Augusta, GA is committed to providing a paid summer internship for a young person age 16-24. The Curvitude Boutique Summer Internship is a seven week program where the intern will gain customer service and retail experience. The youth will learn about effective communication, time management and teamwork through experiences shared at the boutique.

CVS Caremark

CVS Caremark is committing to hire over 20,000 youth between the ages of 16 and 24 in 2012. Many of the new employees will occupy part-time and full-time positions such as pharmacy service associates, technicians, cashiers and interns in a variety of corporate functions.

DaVita

DaVita proudly supports the Summer Jobs+ effort and commits to providing both coaching and internship opportunities in 2012. In an effort to provide a realistic job preview of working in the healthcare industry we will host job shadow days at 15 dialysis clinics across the U.S. Our recruiters will also host a virtual resume feedback day to assist in that important first step of the job search process. Through a series of lessons, self-discovery techniques, and virtual role models tailored for youth in middle and high school, Life, Inc. introduces students to various career possibilities and helps them determine what kind of educational experiences they will need in order to pursue them. The program includes a website, career guide, teacher's guide and student journal, which features seven lessons that are delivered by teachers in schools and after school youth programs. Additionally, through deep relationships with national nonprofits that lead on education including MENTOR, United Way, College Summit and City Year, Deloitte contributes cash, pro bono service and the time of one-on-one mentors to help young people pursue the education and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.

Department of Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture has made a commitment to provide approximately 7,100 youth with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience during the summer of 2012 by working with various USDA Mission Areas and Agencies throughout the country. The USDA provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sounds public policy, the best available science, and efficient management. USDA is committed to forming a pipeline of talented youth who will be our future leaders by giving them the opportunity for hands-on work experience in a variety of science, technology, engineering, math, administrative, management, agribusiness and industry positions.

Department of Education

The U.S. Department of Education is continuing its commitment to prepare students to be college and career ready by partnering with organizations that will provide summer job opportunities - including paid internships, job shadow days, and work skills development workshops - for 16 to 24 year-olds, particularly those from disadvantaged communities. The Department will also offer 150 summer job opportunities, including paid internships, to 150 students, ranging from high school students to those currently enrolled in graduate school.

Department of Health and Human Services

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will commit to supporting 742 summer employment opportunities for low-income youth in 2012. HHS offices will be supporting paid summer jobs as well as other employment enhancement opportunities. The Office of Human Resources' Strategic Programs Division (SPD) will host at least two classes in the "Life Skills" pathway to support 120 youth. These classes will have up to 50 participants each and will focus on work-related soft skills, such as communication, time management, and teamwork. Additionally, SPD will allow for 20 students to participate in the "Work Skills" pathway. These 20 students will shadow SPD employees for the day to offer insight into the federal workplace and to prepare them for employment.

Department of Interior

The Department of the Interior has committed to providing approximately 12,000 young Americans with work opportunities in the summer of 2012 on public lands, tribal lands, national parks, wildlife refuges, and environmental restoration projects nationwide. Interior has increased the number of summer job opportunities it offers for young people under the Obama administration by 30 percent — helping more people from all walks of life to enjoy the great outdoors, and to pursue work opportunities and careers in the stewardship of America's natural, cultural, and historic resources as part of the President's America's Great Outdoors initiative.

Dignity Health

Dignity Health, partnering with others in the communities we serve who are dedicated to improving quality of life, is committed to providing skill development and Learn and Earn opportunities for 200 high school and college students. This commitment provides students the opportunity to learn and apply important skills, gain credible work experience, and build relationships with professionals in our organization. Students will have the unique opportunity to participate in a boot camp experience that combines building awareness and attraction to not-for-profit health careers with pipeline opportunities where we anticipate shortages in high demand fields like nursing, imaging, respiratory and pharmacy with basic skills in resume writing, interviewing, business presence and communication.

DirectEmployers Association

The DirectEmployers Association, a consortium of leading global employers is making state workforce agency job listings available to the Summer Jobs+ bank through a new micros site – summer.jobs. This site is made possible through DirectEmployers technology and the National Labor Exchange partnership with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). DirectEmployers hopes the ease of listing employment opportunities will help enhance involvement within the program and help more youth find employment opportunities. In addition, the DirectEmployers Association, has committed to hire five youth to support the initiative.

Discovery Communications

Discovery Communications provides multiple avenues for young people to discover a summer job and a lasting career. Through the Discover Your Skills campaign youth can learn about exciting career opportunities in skilled trades and critical growth areas like manufacturing, health care, energy, technology, construction and other industries. A partnership with Montgomery College provides community college students with the skills they need to take advantage of available job opportunities. In addition, Discovery's robust internship program will provide nearly 300 college students career opportunities in a variety of fields in 2012.

Dunkin' Brands

In addition to the over 8000 Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins stores that will be looking to hire youth ages 16 - 24 for the summer season, Dunkin' Brands is committed to expanding our corporate summer intern program to include 28 additional interns in 2012. Through this internship program, we will provide on-the-job development opportunities in multiple career focused areas. We will also offer resume writing workshops and interview skills analysis using the latest video interview technology, helping to prepare our interns to achieve their future career goals.

Easter Seals, Inc.

Easter Seals will be working to create summer opportunities for three young people with disabilities and will be disseminating information about the Summer Jobs+ initiative throughout their nationwide network of affiliates. These positions will be in the "learn and earn" category of the initiative. While working for Easter Seals, young people will have the opportunity to learn various aspects of nonprofit management including marketing and corporate relations, public policy, program management, development and more.

El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is committed to investing in youth that are passionate about minority business development. The organization has made a commitment in providing 100 internships by working with the 1,500 businesses in their network. The mission of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is to promote the interest of the businesses in the El Paso region. The organization aims to improve the economic and educational environment by encouraging representation on major issues of public policy that impact Hispanics, minorities, and other small and minority owned business entities.

Executive Personnel Services, Inc. Staffing

Executive Personnel Services, Inc. (EPSI) Staffing has always demonstrated a passion for workforce development to encourage candidate engagement and retention resulting in a successful long-term work relationship. We are especially excited to assist area youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are finding the pathway to employment particularly tough. Our commitment is to assist at minimum 200 youth in the Houston, TX area with skills that are necessary to shift the trajectory of their lives by developing and practicing work-relevant soft skills. EPSI Prep will help participants develop and perfect basic job fit skills, by learning to diversify job search and networking skills, writing quality resumes, and interview coaching. We look forward to creating and fostering positive relationships with the youth in our community ultimately providing a connection to gainful employment and a rewarding work experience that will make them smile, stay engaged and motivated.

Expeditors

Expeditors, through its Opportunity Knocks program, recruits and supports disconnected youth so they can get training in a professional environment that can be leveraged for future success. Since starting the program in 2008, Expeditors has helped 25 disconnected youth in six offices throughout the United States and is committed to adding 75 positions in another twenty offices in 2012 to bring the total participation to 100 youth.

Family Outreach Multipurpose Community Center

Family Outreach Multipurpose Community Center is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to help train and educate youth on how to become successful in the work world. Our initial objective is to assist high school and college students in improving their reading, writing, and comprehension skills through our comprehensive literacy program. We pledge to support Summer Jobs+ by providing job and career readiness training to 25 young men and women ages 16 to 24 residing in the Sussex County area. Through our mentorship program students will participate in workshops for life skill training such as time management, communication, resume writing, interviewing techniques, and social skills to increase their employment marketability.

Foundation for Global Collaboration and Peace

Foundation for Global Collaboration and Peace (FGCNP) is the Resource Center for Participatory Peace, where you can learn Universal Human Commonalities, connect with people and peace NGOs, share your experience and participate in peace building. As a member of Genocide Watch's International Campaign to End Genocide, the United Nations' World Volunteer Web, as well as a resource "For Practitioners" at Columbia University's The Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity (AC4), FGCNP proudly supports the White House Summer Jobs+ Initiative by providing 8 volunteer positions.

Freelancers Union

As the leading voice for the nation's new, independent workforce, Freelancers Union commits to obtain at least 300 job and mentorship opportunities within the freelance community for the Summer Jobs+ program. Currently, independent workers make up over 30% of the country's workforce. Today's youth need new skills to succeed and thrive in the new economy, including the knowledge to manage their time independently, market themselves and their skills, and manage a business of one. Freelancers Union will partner with other freelance organizations to recruit 300 professional independent workers to provide mentorship and job opportunities for the Summer Jobs + program.

Freeland Construction 

Freeland Construction is committed to providing internship opportunities to help promote the careers in the construction industry by offering two internships to support Summer Jobs+. Freeland Construction specializes in mechanical, electrical, and civil renovation, restoration, and rehabilitation projects and in facilities that have work that requires special operating procedures during the performance of the work such as security, cleanliness, health concerns and tight scheduling in ongoing operations. Their clients include a wide range of governmental, industrial, utility and institutional entities. Interns will be immersed in a learning environment that values construction best practices.

Gap Inc.

Gap Inc. is supporting 80,000 youth in 2012 through a variety of programs, which include connecting youth to employment through the development of relevant life skills and work ready skills, as well as providing on-the-job training through learn and earn experiences.

General Assembly

General Assembly, an educational campus for technology, design, and entrepreneurship in New York City, has committed to provide 1,000 underprivileged youth with the skills, best practices, inspiration, and fundamentals of business they need to jumpstart an entrepreneurial career through a recently launched interactive educational program. This free online learning platform offers six self-paced courses taught by top practitioners, as well as support from a like-minded community of peers. Learning goals and challenges will guide students through a structured path to start a company people love. In addition, General Assembly has committed to provide full-ride scholarships (including tuition and housing) for five underprivileged youth to participate in its eight-week immersive Summer Program, hosted in-person at General Assembly in the heart of New York City's startup ecosystem. Students will attend hands-on classes that build skills and provide an in-depth overview of topics in digital product innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will also experience the rigors of real-world entrepreneurship each afternoon by learning from — and working with — top New York City startups. Through field studies, team exercises, and case studies, students will apply their learning in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment and build a portfolio of major contributions to some of New York's most exciting startups.

General Dynamics C4 Systems

General Dynamics C4 Systems is committed to hiring 40 young people during the summer of 2012 and is partnering with Sentinels of Freedom, Wounded Warriors, Diversity Careers, SWE, SHPE, NSBE and WOC to support hiring needs nationwide.

Goodwill Industries International 

Goodwill Industries International is proud to be one of the first organizations to support the Summer Jobs+ program. Through Goodwill's unique social enterprise business model, it creates employment and job training. This year, the organization will expand services for youth at the beginning their careers. Goodwill is committed to hiring 1,200 youth ages 16 to 24, provide more than 3,200 youth with life skills services and over 2,300 with work skills services. Almost 2,000 youth will be engaged in learn and earn services. Thousands more youth will be provided virtual career mentoring and exploration services.

Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce 

As a ongoing mission to support youth development in Phoenix, Arizona, the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce will provide 100 internships/mentorships throughout the 2012-2013 year to educate young professionals about the achievements of minority entrepreneurs. This exposure will help to influence students about the long-term benefits of business ownership. The mission of the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce is to improve the economic development of our business entrepreneurs and the communities for which we serve. The GPBCC serves as the corner stone for educational training, resource programs, resources and economic growth opportunities with a specific emphasis on "Business In Action".

Greatist.com is committing to add a minimum of two unpaid summer internships for 2012. One of the web's fastest-growing and most trusted health and fitness resources for young people looking to make healthier choices, Greatist.com will provide interns with hands-on professional experience in multimedia development for a large online audience. Greatist.com interns will heavily support our writers and provide scientific research assistance. Interns will have ample opportunities to pitch and write articles on a weekly basis. This non-paying position will be based in our New York office three days per week. Lunch and gym memberships will be provided. Through these opportunities, youth can make a difference in the health & fitness space while gaining exposure, experience, and making a name for themselves in the field.

H-E-B

H-E-B has committed to expand their summer jobs program by 19 percent. In the summer of 2012, 5,171 16-24 year olds will be hired to work at H-E-B.

Hire Learning Career Development Academy

The Hire Learning Career Development Academy is a non-profit, youth workforce development organization dedicated to assuring that young people receive the 21st Century skills needed to be employable. Our commitment to the Summer Jobs+ initiative is to provide 100 youth, ages 16-24, with career readiness training through our Game Plan Youth Leadership Series in the Chicago and South Suburban Cook County communities. Through our leadership series, youth will participate in job training and college preparedness boot camps and employers will commit to providing six weeks of paid internships.

Hope Whispers Community Organization, Inc.

Hope Whispers Community Organization, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Canton, OH. As part of Summer Jobs+, we are committed to creating 200 life skills training opportunities for youth ages 16-24. From May to December, we will host workshops on communication, time management, teamwork, cover letter and resume writing, business etiquette, and presentations skills. Each month, 25 youth will be better prepared to engage in the community and world of work.

Hyatt

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is committed to supporting Summer Jobs + by providing up to 1000 students a job shadowing experience at many of Hyatt's locations throughout the U.S. , exposing students to a hospitality oriented work environment. Additionally, Hyatt is committed to adopting the JobPosting schema resulting in hundreds of summer job opportunities being made available to the Summer Jobs+ Bank.

IBEW Local 11

IBEW Local 11 was founded in 1891, and since then we have been committed to creating and expanding middle class careers and opportunities in the greater Los Angeles area. Thousands of registered apprentices have been mentored and employed by over 400 contractors, with many of them coming from the summer helper program Local 11 started in 1945. Under the summer helper and registered apprenticeship program, members learn valuable life skills though Local 11 programs such as the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus and EMPOWER mentoring programs, mathematic and interview skills workshops, in addition to communication and teamwork skills learned during on-the-job training during their five-year apprenticeship. Many and varied work skills are also offered during this apprenticeship training. In addition, Local 11 has long-standing partnerships with many apprenticeship preparation organizations that provide job shadowing and unpaid internships: We Build, PV Jobs, Workforce Development through the city of Los Angeles, Second Call, Black Worker Center, WINTER, the Maxine Waters Center, UCLA Labor Center, Youth Build, Job Corps, Conservation Corps, the Flintridge Foundation, numerous ROPs, numerous local colleges and universities, the national and local councils of LA Raza, La Casa, ACE Mentoring, and the Urban League. Moreover, the summer helper program currently provides hundreds of young people the opportunity to earn money through on-the-job training while they develop the minimum requirements to become registered apprentices.

IBEW Local 11 is in full support of President Obama's Summer Jobs Program and will commit by April 2012 to have 350 youths working under our summer helper program and an additional 75 new apprentices working along over 800 apprentices currently in the program of which approximately 400 have been indentured in the program because of local project labor agreements and ARRA funded projects.

Innovate+Educate and their initiative New Options New Mexico is fully committed to creating new pathways to employment for disconnected and low income young adults. The model is specifically working with employers to recognize the untapped talent of these young adults previously overlooked by traditional hiring practices by adopting the WorkKeys Skills Assessment (developed by ACT). Using this tool, we will provide 1,200 summer jobs across the state of New Mexico for high risk young adults age 16-24 in 2012. In addition, New Options NM is creating Skill Up, a new training pathway that will help 2,000 low income youth develop key workforce skills needed to secure jobs in the 21st century economy.

Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America)

Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) commits to Summer Jobs+ by creating 10 opportunities for low-income disconnected youth ages 16-24. Starting May 2012, ITS America pledges to support at least three interns per year. ITS America will also create a job shadowing program where five youth will shadow several ITS America employees in the office. Additionally, two employees will mentor one youth each at a local high school in the Washington, D.C. area.

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM)

In support of the Summer Jobs+ initiative, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), the nation's largest airline union, expanded its annual mentoring partnership with New York City's Aviation High School. This year's program included discussions between 28 seniors and officials from the Department of Education, the National Mediation Board and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Aviation High School is a uniquely specialized, co-educational high school that prepares students for careers in aviation maintenance and the aerospace industry. Students complete both rigorous vocational and academic programs that provide excellent preparation for both college and aviation-related careers. This April, the IAM flew the group of Aviation High School seniors to Washington, D.C. for a four-day program that also included the students receiving career advice from a major airline's Vice President of Human Resources, learning the responsibilities of being an aviation technician from a veteran airline mechanic, and a visit to the National Transportation Safety Board.

International Black Professional Firefighters Association

The International Black Professional Firefighters Association has made a significant commitment to training and hiring young people by offering 150 internships to youth across the country by networking through their 90 chapters which contain over 5,000 firefighters. The mission of the organization is to promote interracial progress throughout the Fire Service, ensure that competent African Americans are recruited and employed as firefighters and promote the advancement of African American firefighters to elevated ranks throughout the Fire Service. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn about the important tasks of fire safety as they learn about a day in the life as a firefighter.

International Leadership Foundation

International Leadership Foundation (ILF) is proud to support Summer Job+ by expanding their current internship and fellowship program by providing an additional 15 positions. ILF is a non-profit organization that promotes the civic awareness, public service and economic effectiveness of the Asian-Pacific American (APA) community. Our mission is to develop young leaders in the United States, Asia, and other Pacific-rim countries in the fields of public service, entrepreneurship and the international arena through a network of business and community leaders. ILF has provided scholarships and leadership training for over 1,000 select APA college students from across the country over the past 10 years. The Washington D.C. Civic Fellowship is the nation's most prestigious civic leadership development program designed specifically to foster the next generation of APA leaders. Each year, approximately 35 outstanding college students are awarded an ILF fellowship. Each Fellow participates in a supervised training program, including a public service internship and regular seminars, to learn how to access government and public policy to help the community. ILF also sponsors approximately 120 additional college students each year for leadership training, in conjunction with other leading APA organizations. The ILF helps prepare its Fellows to become future leaders in the academic, cultural, business, community, professional, and public arenas.

Internet Webpages Newspaper (IWN) is a print, online and events company located in Chicago, Illinois. The IWN Internship Academy Summer Program pledges to support the Summer Jobs+ initiative by committing to hire a minimum of 5 high school students and up to 25 college students for a total expected creation of 30 paid summer jobs. These youth will have the option of working two, four or seven hours per day depending on their availability. Students will work on creating personalized newspapers, printed directories, books, online WordPress websites, e-commerce storefronts, videos, documentary films and more. The culminating project will be the Chicago International Blog Week, a seven-day special event that includes Chicago International Blog Awards gala and VIP reception for local, national and international bloggers in late August 2012.

J.B. Hunt Transport Inc.

J.B. Hunt Transport is focused on providing opportunities for young people to experience a professional working environment, particularly those in the Hispanic community in Arkansas. Through a partnership with ALPFA, the company reaches out to local high school students and helps raise awareness of opportunities in business, and provides mentors for college students. For 2012, J.B. Hunt is increasing the number of summer positions at headquarters to 20, and expanding college internships at our field locations throughout the United States.

Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation

The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation partners with resident teams in underinvested communities in southeastern San Diego, California to work on a comprehensive development plan to transform 60 unused, untended, and underutilized acres into a vibrant community center and cultural destination. As part of our commitment to engage residents from our low income, ethnically diverse community, we are committed to providing 130 opportunities for youth this summer. Approximately 100 high school to college students from the community will learn a series of work skills via mentorships, shadowing, and on hands-on educational projects in the fields of professional community organizing, civic engagement, urban redevelopment, arts and culture, catering and sales, architecture, land development, maintenance, communications, graphic design, entrepreneurship, and public safety. An additional 30 will have the opportunity to apply to paid internships through the organization. These internships will vary from three months to 12 months

Jamba Juice

Jamba Juice has made a significant commitment to training and hiring young people and will pledge to hire at least 2,500 youth in the summer of 2012. Jamba Juice has a successful summer in 2011 when the company hired nearly 2,700 youth for summer work — 200 more than their pledge made as part of  the "Summer Jobs USA: Make a Commitment" initiative. Additionally, Jamba Juice also recently launched a new internship program for Job Corps students.

Job Prep

Job Prep™ is committed to supporting 50 youth and young adults from low income families in the Irving, Texas area to prepare for jobs through our Life Skills Workshops (work related). The workshops introduce youth to self-awareness, respect, anger management, time management, work ethic and performance, leadership, and communication. To accommodate youth entering the call center industry, we will provide lessons in telephone etiquette. Full service resume writing and interview prepping will also be offered.

The Job1 Youth Readiness Initiative

The Job1 Youth Readiness Initiative, led by the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board in partnership with the North Central Workforce Investment Board, is a broad coalition of youth-serving community based organizations, schools, training programs, and social service organizations committed to helping our region's youth become better prepared to enter the workplace and transition into successful adulthood. As part of Summer Jobs+, Job1 commits to training a minimum of 300 low-income youth ages 16 to 21 in a 12-hour work-readiness program and engaging at least 80 area employers to support youth hiring. Through the use of the Massachusetts Work-Based Learning plan, Job1 will document the skill gains of each participant.

Johns Hopkins

Johns Hopkins — both its health care system and university — has provided jobs and invaluable work experience to as many as 265 Baltimore City youth each year for almost two decades. Part of their great success with these summer jobs programs is attributed to the strong mentoring each individual receives along with their job training. For 2012, in addition to their regular summer jobs placements, Johns Hopkins will be implementing a new program that pairs college student mentors with the students participating in their summer internship program for an extra intensive educational and work experience. It is anticipated that 250 students will participate in this program. Students who take part in this year's summer program may also be eligible to participate in John Hopkins year-long internship program. Also, during the summer of 2012 and for the second year in a row, students will be supported in a program, called Engineering Innovations, that places them in the Whiting School of Engineering where they participate in a Technology, Engineering and Math Program in which they can earn college credit from Johns Hopkins University.

Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson is committed to providing valuable work opportunities to the youth of America, including low income youth, through summer internships and co-op positions across the company. Since 1992, the company has engaged with the Bridge to Employment program to prepare underserved students in communities where Johnson & Johnson has a presence, to meet the challenges and requirements of careers in the health care industry – in 2012, 200 students will benefit. As part of the Summer Jobs+ initiative, we are committed to providing valuable work opportunities through summer internships and co-op positions in concentrations such as IT, Finance and Supply Chain.

Juma Ventures

In 1993, Juma Ventures (www.Juma.org) became one of the first nonprofit organizations to own and operate a commercial franchise—a single Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shop in San Francisco. Since then, Juma has grown from a job-training and placement program serving 25 homeless youth to a comprehensive youth development program operating six social enterprises in four cities. Juma has employed more than 3,000 low-income students who have earned $3 million in wages and saved more than $2 million toward higher education. In 2012, Juma is proud to commit to hiring 120 low-income students as part of the Summer Jobs+ initiative.

JPMorgan Chase

JPMorgan Chase has been a leader in supporting "Learn and Earn" and "career and skill development" programs in cities all across the country for decades. During the 2011 Corporate Mentoring Challenge, JPMorgan Chase was inspired to step up in a leadership role — by funding and launching the Illinois Mentoring Partnership, introducing other potential funders and connecting non-profit organizations, who deliver the programs. In Chicago, JPMorgan Chase also has supported, since its creation 20 years ago, After School Matters, a program that helps teens discover and nurture their talents and aspirations for future successes. The bank's support in 2012 will provide 1,300 teens with hands-on, project-based programs to learn about rewarding careers and to help develop marketable job skills.

Kupu

Kupu pledges to provide 210 positions during the summer of 2012. 200 of these positions will be through Kupu's Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps. This program which provides the opportunity for corps members to work with nearly 50 different conservation agencies ranging from small non-profits, to federal agencies that manage and protect Hawaii's lands. Positions are available on all major Hawaiian Islands with the exception of Ni'ihau. Corps members who participate in Kupu's summer program will also have the opportunity to earn college credit through the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Natural Resource and Environmental Management program. Corps members that participate in the year round program will gain extensive knowledge about environmental conservation which will make them highly desirable candidates for full time employment after the year round position ends. Kupu also pledges 10 positions through Kupu's Rewarding Internships for Sustainable Employment (RISE) Program. These 10 internship positions will be placed in organizations that focus on sustainability on the island of Oahu. Interns will exit the RISE program with greater professional development skills and in depth knowledge of sustainability in Hawaii.

Level Playing Field Institute

Level Playing Field Institute operates the Summer Math and Science Honors (SMASH) Academy for low-income, under-represented high school students of color through a rigorous, STEM focused curriculum. SMASH will serve 225 students this summer through a five-week summer residential experience at Cal, Stanford, UCLA, and USC with plans to scale nationally in 2013 and beyond.

LinkedIn has committed to offer 200 internships in the summer of 2012. Additionally, LinkedIn is committed to adopting the JobPosting schema and letting any company post their summer internship jobs (or entry level jobs) on the LinkedIn website at no cost.

LSL Industries, Inc.

LSL Industries, Inc. is committed to promoting health care careers by offering two internships to support Chicago youth in summer 2012. Since 1985, the company has offered a wide variety of disposable medical devices, component parts, various hospital supplies, disposable kits and surgical procedure kits. Students will learn why quality health care supplies advance the American health care industry.

Through its work with local Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop Career Centers, Manpower supports employment opportunities for thousands of people touched by the public workforce system.

Masimo Corporation

Masimo Corporation proudly supports Summer Jobs+ with a commitment to help up to 800 low-income or disconnected young people develop high-demand job skills through paid summer internships and a series of career-life workshops in 2012. These opportunities align with Masimo's mission to help make a profound societal difference, with an emphasis on fostering cutting edge innovation and ethical conduct. Our paid summer internship program will offer at least 10 young people meaningful opportunities to develop marketing, engineering and other skills and serve as a solid career stepping stone. Masimo is partnering with community groups and nonprofit organizations to provide intensive, engaging and enlightening workshops to help hundreds of students and underserved youth gain crucial work-life strategies to help them succeed, regardless of their career path.

The McGraw-Hill Companies

The McGraw-Hill Companies is committed to growing its 12-week paid summer internship program which employs youth across all of their businesses to 260 summer internships for 2012. In 2011, McGraw-Hill employed over 250 Summer Interns and roughly 10% of last year's interns were offered full-time positions after graduation.

Meathead Movers

Meathead Movers is California's largest independent moving company. Along with our sister company Princess Packers, we offer moving, storage, and packing services performed by student athletes. We pledge to support Summer Jobs+ by providing paid employment, additional training and transportation assistance to at least 100 young men and women ages 18 to 24 at our locations in San Luis Obispo and Camarillo in 2012. We will partner with career services at Cuesta Community College and Moorpark Community College to recruit an increased pool of community college students and provide quality training. We will also sponsor a bi-monthly informal mentoring lunch with CEO, Aaron Steed, who will provide specific career guidance. Additionally, Meathead Movers will create a Transportation Assistance Program by offering pre-tax public transit benefits to all employees and coordinating a rideshare program.

Montefiore Medical Center

Montefiore Medical Center is an academic medical center and integrated delivery system dedicated to advancing the health of our patients and families and our communities. As such, Montefiore commits to build upon its existing youth mentorship programs, which include over six hundred students every year, to establish ten stipend positions in summer 2012 targeted at low-income and disadvantaged youth. This program will focus specifically on juniors and seniors in high schools in the Bronx and lower Westchester communities. Students will have access to a curriculum focused on a combination of both life and work skills, with opportunities for career instruction and mentorship by Montefiore leaders, financial literacy, academic focus, and social growth, with an emphasis on real-world labor expectations. Youth empowerment will be one significant aspect of the program, and the opportunities afforded to students will strive to challenge and motivate youth to work hard to benefit their lives as well as the community in which they live. Program participants will be responsible for launching and completing a discrete project. Each project will focus on opportunities to enhance teamwork, accountability, persistence and other character traits of great value in the workplace.

National Association of Hispanic Firefighers 

The National Association of Hispanic Firefighters (NAHF) has made a significant commitment to training and hiring young people by offering 150 internships/mentorships to youth across the country. The NAHF is committed to enhancing fire and life safety services throughout the country through recruitment, training, mentorship and career development of women and men firefighters of all race, color, religion, creed, social or economic background to best reflect and serve others in time of need. Interns will learn about the importance of fire safety and why firefighters are committed to protecting and serving their local communities.

National Black McDonald's Owners Association

The National Black McDonald's Operators Association (NBMOA) is pleased to support the Summer Jobs+ program. As an organization founded over 39 years ago, we are committed to educational and economic development in the communities where we do business. Our members commit to help a minimum of 100 low-income or disconnected young people develop high-demand job skills through summer jobs and full-time jobs that provide work and educational skills, learn and earn as well as mentoring and other opportunities to develop work-related skills. Members of the NBMOA own more than 1,400 McDonald's restaurants throughout the United States with annual sales collectively exceeding $3.2 billion.

National Skilled Trades Network

The National Skilled Trades Network (NSTN) is a non-profit organization located in Columbus, Ohio focused on working with 20 low income Columbus Linden area youth in the skilled trades industry. The members of NSTN are small business owners committed to providing professionally supported relationships to assist youth on their skilled trade career path. The program participants who successfully complete our 12 week summer program will be mentored and trained to become confident, competent and employable in the skilled trades. The goal is that all participants will enter the job market prepared for further on the job training or as an apprentice in one of the many skilled trades industries.

National U.S. India Chamber of Commerce

As an ongoing mission to support youth employment in Denver, Colorado, the National US India Chamber of Commerce (NUICC) will promote Summer Jobs+ by offering 10 internships to college and graduate students in the area. The National US India Chamber of Commerce is recognized as one of the top international business organizations that promotes bilateral trade between United States and India. The internships will focus on global business, international markets and the importance of American exporting. Students will learn various facets in global competitiveness and how this spurs job creation throughout the United States.

New York-Presbyterian Hospital

New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) has long been committed to promoting their future workforce from within the communities they serve and will provide summer opportunities at the hospital for approximately 250 young people interested in careers in healthcare, as part of the President's Summer Jobs+ initiative. The NYP Summer Volunteer Program will make approximately 165 positions available campus wide. Summer Volunteers commit to 120 hours of service within 6-8 weeks, with limited spots available for weekends & evenings. Additionally, NYP provides employment and educational opportunities to 60 youth in partnership with the City of New York's Summer Youth Employment Program. Lastly, NYP's Student Nurse Externship Program will offer 27 college students nurse extern opportunities this summer. Students in Bachelor's Degree programs who are focused on a career in nursing are hired in the summer between their junior and senior years for a work experience that plunges them into the environment of care under the guidance of an individual preceptor. Approximately 90 percent of program participants are subsequently hired by NYP after graduation.

North Carolina Indian Economic Development 

The North Carolina Indian Economic Development Initiative (NCIEDI) has committed to offering internships and training opportunities to 50 college students to promote the accomplishments of NC Indian community in North Carolina. NCIEDI's Mission is to advocate and facilitate economic development in North Carolina's American Indian communities by promoting American Indian business expansion, opportunities and partnerships.

North Shore Community Development Coalition

North Shore Community Development Coalition is dedicated to building homes and strengthening communities. Our mission is to provide quality affordable housing and foster community development and economic empowerment in the North Shore region of Massachusetts. We pledge to support the Summer Jobs+ program while meeting the goals of our mission by employing 10 to 15 youth from the low-income communities we serve through our summer STAND (Students Take Action for Neighborhood Development) program. STAND offers youth an opportunity to revitalize their neighborhood by identifying and making improvements to their community through painting, property repairs, and neighborhood beautification. STAND employees will also receive educational programming, such as public speaking and resume building workshops, to help enhance their ability to find further employment. Leadership development workshops also incorporated into the program give our students an opportunity to collaborate with local government officials and to work with experienced professionals on property management and community development in their own city.

Northrop Grumman

Northrop Grumman, through the Northrop Grumman Foundation, will offer 100 new summer job opportunities for high school students, in partnership with some of its key community and educational partners, especially in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Partners for this initiative currently include: National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, Great Minds in STEM, Society of Women Engineers, Tomorrow Aeronautical Today, National Math & Science Initiative, Ride2Recovery, Thelonious Monk Institute for Jazz, YouthWorks, Higher Achievement Program, D.C. Bowl Committee, Civic Works, Feeding America Southwest Virginia, YMCA Fairfax County Reston, and Northern Virginia Family Service. In addition to the summer intern program supported by the Northrop Grumman Foundation, Northrop Grumman Corporation will host two summer STEM career sessions for high school juniors and seniors.

Operation HOPE/Gallup 

Operation HOPE, as part of the Gallup-HOPE Index Cities Initiative, commits to secure 20 businesses and place 500 youth through youth business internships, mentorships, shadow days or actual small business or entrepreneurship start-ups. Through the Gallup-HOPE Index Cities initiative, Operation HOPE, in partnership with Gallup intend to create a new youth entrepreneurial and business class in America, along with a new culture of progressive business mentoring by Corporate America.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is a proud supporter of Summer Jobs + 2012. Through PG&E's PowerPathway™ program, we are building California's capacity to produce the skilled workers needed by PG&E and the energy and utility industry—creating job training and career advancement opportunities for underserved communities in partnership with the workforce investment and community college systems. This year, PG&E commits to expanding enrollment opportunities in PG&E's PowerPathway Skilled Crafts training programs to low-income, disconnected youth ages 18 to 24—allocating 25 percent of program enrollment in 2012 and beyond to prepare youth in Northern and Central California for entry-level utility careers. As a result, 23 youth will have the opportunity to enroll in training programs through summer 2012. Since PowerPathway began in 2008, PG&E has trained nearly 250 individuals from its Skilled Crafts programs with an average diversity of 55 percent.

Partners HealthCare

As the largest private employer in Massachusetts, Partners HealthCare is committed to improving the health of Massachusetts' communities beyond the provision of health care services, by building tomorrow's health care workforce and supporting youth success. Partners engages young people in science, exposing and introducing them to health careers and health professionals, assisting them to prepare for and succeed in post-secondary education, and promoting healthy behaviors. In addition to offering year round internship and job shadowing opportunities to community youth, Partners is committed to enabling youth to grow and learn in safe, healthy environments during the summer months. Partners will have more than 400 young people working in our hospitals this summer including: Brigham and Women's, Massachusetts General, and Faulkner hospitals and North Shore Medical Center. In addition to providing summer jobs at our hospitals, Partners is a sponsor of the John Hancock MLK Summer Scholars initiative which helps to provide up to 650 summer jobs to Boston youth.

PWC US 

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) maintains a strong focus on providing learning and work opportunities for youth in the United States. Through its host of early-identification programs and a robust internship program designed for undergraduate students, PwC seeks to provide students the learning, coaching, and training opportunities and professional relationships they need to develop professionally and personally, while also learning about unique opportunities in a career in professional services. For the summer of 2012, PwC is committed to hiring 1,500 youth across the country.

Queens Community House

Queens Community House is a community-based organization in Queens, New York. With a goal of Strengthening Neighborhoods and Inspiring Change, we foster growth and connection among diverse community members of all ages. Our youth development programs provide comprehensive supports to enable young people ages 5 to 24 to overcome obstacles and access opportunities. As part of the Summer Jobs+ initiative, we will offer employment to over 500 youth during summer 2012. One hundred and fifty of these will be new jobs added to our summer jobs program that orients youth ages 14 to 24 to the workforce and provides them with paid employment for the summer. In addition, we will offer 40 paid internships to older youth, and hire dozens of young people in our own social service programs serving senior citizens and younger children. Our goal is to provide an early experience of employment success, opportunities to explore careers, and encouragement to persist in education. College counseling and SAT preparation are available for all who are interested, as are follow up services to support young people to continue or re-engage with education, seek year-round employment and remain engaged in positive social environments that foster sound decision-making and communication skills.

Regional Black Chamber of Commerce-Southern California

The mission of the Regional Black Chamber of Commerce-Southern California is to provide regional strategic assistance of empowerment to small, minority, and women owned businesses in gaining social equality and economic empowerment through education, capital resource access, networking and marketing collaboration. They also want to use their diverse professional network to help youth in California succeed in various business occupation pathways. To promote youth employment, the organization has committed to help 50 students obtain internships/mentorships with business professionals in encourage career preparation and graduate education. Students will gain hands-on experience in a challenging business environment with seasoned industry experts.

Renee's Hair Designs

Renee's Hair Designs (http://reneeshairdesigns.com/) is a locally owned small business located in New York. We are proud to commit to providing 3 youth with the opportunity to shadow staff for a day to learn valuable customer service skills. Youth who currently attend Beauty School will receive hands on job skill experience shampooing and braiding hair.

Roane State Community College

Roane State Community College will provide life skills and work skills training during the months of June and July 2012 to 50 low-income youth ages 16-24. Classes include training in money management, conflict resolution, teamwork, and social skills. Roane State Community College also pledges to provide classes on how to apply for a job online; resume writing in the 21st century; the best way to use social networking; and how to make lasting impressions that count. Trainings will be four-hours long and will take place throughout the nine campuses in East Tennessee.

Roseland Community Hospital 

Roseland Community Hospital is a full-service medical facility with health care professionals in several medical specialties on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. The hospital is planning a 3 tier summer by providing opportunities for youth to learn basic work skills while earning a salary, community service credits or course credits. Physicians who work at RCH will contribute $18,000.00 to hire 20 students. The hospital hopes to increase these dollars as we publicize the program to other "Friends of RCH". They have also encouraged national elected/appointed government officials to partner with them to publicize the Summer Jobs+ program. The second program will provide RCH unpaid internships to high school students who will be exposed to the operations at a safety net hospital while earning community service credits. The third initiative will provide unpaid internships to college students who will earn community service and course credits. Each program will include a weekly education component which will help participants understand "How to Get a Job and Keep It", "Money Management Strategies", "Healthy Lifestyles", "Career Options" and "Responsible Citizenship".

Royal People Group, Inc.

Royal People Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on increasing graduation rates and decreasing incarceration rates in urban communities. Our mission is to help our youth read, write and comprehend better through a comprehensive literacy program. We pledge to support the Summer Jobs+ program by providing job and career readiness training to 905 young men and women ages 16 to 24 in New York City's tri-state areas of Queens, Brooklyn, Harlem, and parts of Long Island. Through our all-day Urban Youth Summits, representatives in the banking, sales, and media industry will provide 900 youth with resume, interview and "how to land the job" workshops. Representatives and youth will be encouraged to develop a mentoring relationship after the summit has concluded. Additionally, we commit to providing a minimum of 5 paid internships to high school seniors ages 18 to 21 starting in July 2012. Youth will intern for six weeks and will learn the particulars of working in media and publishing through engagement with our community magazine Around Town.

San Francisco

San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, in partnership with United Way of the Bay Area, has responded to the President's call to action by committing to provide 5,000 jobs and internships for youth ages 14 - 24. Mayor Lee has challenged corporate partners to match the City's 2,500 summer jobs with 2,500 new job and internship opportunities for summer 2012. The Mayor's Office will partner with the United Way of the Bay Area, Department of Children, Youth and their Families (DCYF), Office of Economic & Workforce Development (OEWD), and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) to create a pipeline between youth, community organizations and private sector employers. The United Way and local youth workforce development organizations will provide work readiness training and support to youth job seekers and match them to employers. A Corporate Challenge Summit and Youth Resource Fair will serve as the San Francisco Summer Jobs+ kick-off.

The SI Organization will hire more than 100 young people in 2012 for full-time entry-level and internship/co-op positions focused on engineering and integration services in the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and other agencies.

The Siwel Group, LLC

Through its May Twenty ThirdTM Program, The Siwel Group, LLC will provide soft skills training to disconnected youth ages 16-24 to develop changes in thinking and discipline for a richer more constructive life. Sixty low income youth have the opportunity to learn more about career choices and the necessary life skills for a strong healthy family and successful work. Career Day shadowing is possible through The Siwel Group LLC‘s partnerships with local businesses in various industries such as Cosmetology, Law Enforcement, City Government, Animal Health Care, Real Estate and Technology. Twelve participants who complete the program expand their training and experience through entry level non-paid internships ranging from 5 – 12 weeks. The May Twenty Third TM Program is open to residents of Georgia living in Henry, and Clayton counties.

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP is committed to offering one paid internship through their 2012 Summer Internship Program. This opportunity will expose a young professional to the tasks and responsibilities of seasoned professional in the legal industry. The internship provides students the opportunity to work in an international corporate law firm, assisting one of our support departments with administrative and project related responsibilities. In addition to working in the assigned department, students will participate in planned activities throughout the summer to enhance their experience.

Smart Recruiters

As a partner of Summer Jobs+, SmartRecruiters is dedicated to providing their candidate management and smart sourcing technology that allows employers the ability to post jobs to the Summer Jobs+ bank.  In addition, employers will be able to leverage top social networks and job boards to help streamline their hiring process and reach today's youth!

Southwire

Building upon the program's tremendous success, Southwire plans to expand its 12 for Life partnership with the Carroll County (Georgia) Schools this year by 25 percent. With this increase, Southwire will employ an additional 30 students at 12 for Life in Carrollton. Growth will come in the form of new processes aimed at developing students' science, technology, math and engineering (STEM) skills. Founded in 2007, 12 for Life encourages students to finish high school by providing competitive wages, support of work in the classroom, mentoring by Southwire employees and instruction in life skills many students would not receive otherwise. To date, 304 students have graduated from the program, far surpassing Southwire's goal of 175 graduates in the first five years.

Starbucks

Starbucks Coffee Company is supporting more than 25,000 youth this summer through a variety of programs. The company will work with local nonprofits and others to engage 20,000 young people in life skills and job readiness development. This commitment is in alignment with our Youth Action Grants programs, supporting young people to address critical issues in their communities. Starbucks supports nonprofit organizations to give young people the skills and resources to be catalysts for change through community service. One example of an organization Starbucks supports is Generation On in multiple cities across the US; this is a program of Hands On Network. Starbucks plans to work closely with its grant recipients to maximize the life skills training and service opportunities and to increase their outreach to underserved youth. The company will also provide hands-on and learn and earn experiences for 5,000 young people working at Starbucks.

State Street Corporation

State Street Corporation is committed to providing workforce development and education opportunities to approximately 1,000 youth each summer in cities including Boston, New York, Kansas City, and Sacramento among others. The company supports a continuum of meaningful job opportunities starting with funding subsidized wage placements in community-based organizations for first-time job experiences, as well as placements in professional positions at State Street for those who have developed basic employability skills and are ready for more responsibility.

SummerQAmp

SummerQAmp is a new nationwide initiative developed as a commitment to Summer Jobs+ to train a new workforce in high-tech skills and create tech jobs for American youth. The goal of SummerQAmp is to introduce Quality Assurance (QA) as a potential career path to American youth (ages 18-24) who are unaware of the opportunity by allowing them to gain valuable work experience as summer interns at software companies. During the SummerQAmp internships, over 44 companies will provide participants with fundamental understanding of how software works and give them access to an educational resource to assist them in preparing for a potential career in software development.

Supplying Tools to Empower Peoples Success San Antonio

Supplying Tools to Empower Peoples Success (STEPS) San Antonio is a non-profit youth and adult literacy program that cultivates and transforms the lives of families in the community. We promote life skills and career building techniques through our career and education awareness program. STEPS Career Coaches work one on one with youth, helping them establish work skills that consist of resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, effective workplace social skills, and job retention strategies. Our commitment to the Summer Jobs + initiative will provide 50 youth with life and work skills that prepare them for entry-level positions through contextualized learning. STEPS' eight week summer program is committed to providing each individual with relevant "real world" job skills necessary for success in today's competitive marketplace.

Sweet Beginnings, LLC

Sweet Beginnings, LLC makes the family of beeline® products, an all natural line of raw honey and honey-infused body care products. By extracting honey from the all natural urban apiary in the heart of West side of Chicago, students will learn how local production of body care products can lead to business ownership and community leadership. Sweet Beginnings is a wholly owned subsidiary of the North Lawndale Employment Network and offers full-time transitional jobs for formerly incarcerated individuals and others with significant barriers to employment in a green industry – the production and sales of all-natural skin care products featuring its own urban honey.

Swish Dreams

Swish Dreams seeks to expose children to a "Swish Education," which provides academic, social, and physical enrichment to youth, while integrating the disciplines of Language Arts and Mathematics in low-income Chicago communities. This non-profit organization has committed to providing 100 internships/mentorships opportunities to Chicago youth for the 2012-2013 year. To date, Swish Dreams has served over 250 students and has been blessed to have forged relationships with many prominent organizations; in July 2010, history was made when 35 boys from the Chicagoland area participated in the very first very SWISH Dreams summer camp.

Syracuse University

Syracuse University will provide 200 jobs to college-aged students working in the Say Yes to Education Syracuse's Summer Camp for academic enrichment and youth leadership. Syracuse University will also provide 50 positions to 16-21 year olds in a SU partnership with CNY Works on a Summer Youth Initiative.

Targeting Our People's Priorities with Service, Inc.

Targeting Our People's Priorities with Service, Inc. (TOPPS) is a non-profit organization nationally recognized for having a unique and powerful solution to help disadvantaged young people in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. TOPPS helps young people begin to envision a life that includes higher education and a meaningful, productive adulthood. TOPPS provides tutoring, mentoring, volunteer opportunities, character-building activities, job training, and jobs. Our programs discourage destructive behaviors that lead to juvenile court and adult incarceration among school-aged children and teens. TOPPS pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by providing on-the-job training to 50 youth ages 16-24 through our job readiness program and TOPPS Summer Camps. TOPPS is committed to providing job readiness life skills and introduction to career paths to 150 teens and young adults in 2012.

TeenForce

TeenForce, a non-profit youth jobs program in Silicon Valley, is committing to provide paid work opportunities to at least 100 youth in 2012. TeenForce works with a variety of employers to help them implement commitments to Summer Jobs+, while handling all of the payroll, recruiting, hiring and other details. Youth will be placed in a variety of paid work experiences, including health care, tech support, programming, food service, accounting, auto repair, graphic design, construction and social media marketing. TeenForce will also provide life skills and work skills programs to 20 additional youth through our network of Community Training Partners. TeenForce has a special focus on working with current and former foster care youth.

TeenQuest/Summer Youth Initiative

The TeenQuest/Summer Youth Initiative, a program of the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce, is committed to expanding opportunity for students in the Flint and Genesee region in Michigan. Our unique program provides pre-employment and leadership training, a job fair with nonprofit and for-profit employers, job placement for teens and wage supplements to employers. As part of Summer Jobs+, we will train 600 young people and pledge to find 500 of the participating youth employment throughout the year.

Teledon Solutions

Teledon Solutions focuses on the telecom industries need for outsourced optical network equipment installation services. In order to help the youth in Alpharetta, GA, the company had dedicated to developing an internship to help educate five students about telecom careers. The company specializes in the design and installations of VoIP, traditional telephone networks, fiber optic networks and providing construction services through their staff of certified constructors and engineers. Students will be immersed in a face-past environment that values technological innovations.

Texcel, Inc

Texcel, Inc. is committed to providing youth in the Cleveland, OH with experience in information technology by offering five internships to support the Summer Jobs+ program. They specialize in wired/wireless network design and deployment, converged networks, security and data center solution and IBM server & storage systems integration and deployment. The company has partnered with industry leaders like IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, Xerox and others to provide value added IT solutions and services. These opportunities will educate young professionals about basic technology skills and how technology planning can benefit the workplace.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. , Inc. (TMS) is continuing its paid summer internship program and will be providing 70 internships for the summer of 2012. We are the marketing, sales, distribution and customer service arm of Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicles in the United States. Established in 1957, TMS markets products and services through a network of nearly 1, 500 dealers who collectively sold more than 1.6 million cars and trucks during 2011. Toyota directly employs nearly 30,000 people in the U.S. and its investment in America is valued at $18 billion. We also are committed to reaching out to help improve the quality of lives in the communities we serve and have contributed more than $500 million to U.S. charities over the past 20 years.

Tri-State Black Chamber of Commerce (Illinois, Missouri, Iowa)

The Tri-State Black Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the economic empowerment and sustained growth of black and other minority enterprise across the Tri-State Region of Illinois, Missouri and Iowa. The organization pledges to support Summer Jobs+ by offering 25 internships/mentorships to students in this Midwest region. Students will be matched with professionals who work in their desired occupational field with the goal of promoting career advancement and networking opportunities. Most importantly, students will be encouraged to attend industry-focused events to learn about hand-on experience.

Tutor Perini Construction Company

Tutor Perini Construction Company will commit to supporting 15 internship opportunities for low-income youth for summer 2012. Tutor Perini Corporation is a leading civil and building construction company offering diversified general contracting and design/build services to private clients and public agencies throughout the world. Interns will learn the various facets of the construction industry and gain hand-on experience in comprehensive project management and pre-construction planning.

U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is committed to providing  130 summer internship opportunities for young people to learn from on the job experiences and skills training. These positions are located across the country in SBA's field offices, as well as headquarters in Washington, DC, providing young people across the country the opportunity to take part in a summer job. In addition, the SBA and Department of Labor are providing a training opportunity to 40 young people through the Start Young initiative, a pilot program aimed at providing young people information and mentorship in entrepreneurship through the Job Corps. Additionally, the SBA has worked with the White House to launch an online web form to allow small businesses, as well as foundations and large corporations, to post summer job opportunities for youth. SBA has and continues to build awareness about this online web form amongst its network of small businesses, 68 field offices and 14,000 resource partners.

UBS

UBS, a global financial services firm, concentrates its corporate giving in the Americas region on preparing youth for advanced educational opportunities with particular emphasis on after-school programs as well as developing young leaders through entrepreneurship. We work closely with our community partners that include Junior Achievement, After-School  Matters Chicago and New York's Good Shepherd Services' Success Skills Workshops to provide young people with the skills and resources they need to help realize their full potential. In 2012, we announced our commitment of 25 employment opportunities to iMentor's 100 Mentor Pledge in partnership with nine other companies to match our employees with students for one-on-one mentoring relationships to support college-readiness and build career awareness. 2012 also will bring the launch of a youth arts apprentice program for 75 young people in the Miami-Dade County area allowing young people to have summer employment with an emphasis on developing their artistic skills. UBS is proud to support the Summer Jobs+ initiative and expects thousands of young people will participate in nearly 40 programs supported though funding from UBS.

Unum and Colonial Life

Unum and Colonial Life are committed to providing three one-day workshops for at risk youth ages 16-24. Workshops will be hosted in Columbia, S.C. , for 60 students from across the Midlands region to help them be successful in business. Each workshop will focus on the following three key areas of job preparedness: interviewing and resume writing; experiential job shadowing; and workplace professionalism and communication skills. Unum and Colonial Life are leading providers of employee benefits at the workplace. Together, the companies help workers and their families ensure their financial protection through personal insurance products including disability, life, accident, hospital confinement, cancer and critical illness coverage, as well as individual benefits counseling and education. Education is a primary focus of the corporation's social responsibility efforts.

UPS

UPS, the global leader in logistics, is continuing its commitment to summer jobs and will offer 1,500 employment opportunities to youth across the country in 2012. Most opportunities qualify for employment benefits and UPS' educational assistance program which can pay up to $3,000 a year for educational benefits.

Vancouver WA Housing Authority (VHA)

The Vancouver WA Housing Authority (VHA) and the Southwest Washington WorkForce Development Council (SWWDC) are committed to improving access to employment for 100 low-income and disconnected youth in Clark County, WA. In collaboration with local partners, they will host a Clark County Youth Summer Jobs Fair in 2012 at the Fort Vancouver Regional Library. The Summer Jobs Fair will offer youth a space to connect with over 20 employers. Business partners will provide opportunities for work and life skills through mentorships, internships, soft skills training, pre-employment readiness assistance, vocational training programs, and more. Viacom

Viacom has committed to provide internship and mentorship programs to connect youth to employment opportunities. Through their Summer Associates Program, VIACOM will provide 10 recent college graduates young people a 10 week paid training program in the summer 2012 fostering professional and personal development and unlocking the doors to valuable real-world experience. Through their partnership with POSSE's Career Program, Viacom will provide 30 college students high school students with a paid internship. In addition, mentoring initiatives such as Viacom's national mentoring program Get Connected, created with the Get Schooled Foundation, will assist students through meaningful connections with adults with the ultimate goal of helping to keep them in school and realize their true potential.

We Are Golf

WE ARE GOLF is a national not-for-profit organization formed to tell the story of the nearly 2 million hardworking men and women who make golf a great sport and whose livelihoods depend on it. Golf courses across the country are building on their 2011 commitment of 2,700 summer jobs and WE ARE GOLF is bringing far more golf courses to this initiative in 2012 to offer tens of thousands more jobs to young people.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo has made an ongoing and significant commitment to its communities, including opportunities for summertime work, networking and training for young people. In the summer of 2012, Wells Fargo will support 1,000 employment opportunities for youth.

The White House

The Summer Jobs+ Professional Development Series at The White House will prepare 260 youth for employment through life skills and work skills pathway opportunities. Students from public high schools in Washington, DC will be introduced to careers in public service and participate in hands-on skill building activities. The Series builds on the Step Into The White House initiative, expanding the program to more local youth and adding professional development workshops. Series participants will be invited to apply to the D.C. Scholars Program, a White House internship program for public and charter high school students in the District of Columbia.

Workforce.io

As part of the W.K.Kellogg Foundation's New Options Project, Living Classrooms and Gravity Tank are building the first web service that provides young adults, non-profits and employers tools, training and connections in the entry-level employment market. In support of Summer Jobs +, they are thrilled to offer workforce.io free of charge to everyone engaged in summer jobs this summer across the nation. They are also committed to showing all of the jobs in the Summer Jobs + job bank on our community map where young adults, employers and non-profits can connect in their local community. Finally, they are committed to producing original content to help young adults prepare for, find, and do well in their summer employment opportunity.

Year Up

Year Up seeks to close the Opportunity Divide by providing urban young adults, ages 18-24, with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. The organization prepares and then places its students in corporate internships at America's leading companies, where they fill a crucial need for employers and simultaneously gain vital knowledge and exposure. For the duration of their enrollment in Year Up, including during their internships, students receive an educational stipend. Year Up has committed to provide 122 additional internship opportunities to young adults in 2012, reaching 1,117 students in total, by expanding its program in the National Capital Region and by deepening its employer partnerships across the country. It also has committed to double its existing presence in Baltimore, Chicago, and Seattle, and is preparing for similar growth in 2013 in Providence and Atlanta, while continuing its existing programs in Boston, New York, and San Francisco. To date, Year Up has served over 5,000 young people across the country.

YMEN 

The Young Men's Educational Network (YMEN) prepares young men on the West side of Chicago for leadership by focusing on mature, responsible leadership, love for learning, and outstanding service to the larger community through a comprehensive college preparatory program, entrepreneurial training, a long-term mentoring network, and community service learning YMEN is committed to offering 50 internships and mentoring opportunities as they expand their existing initiatives to support Summer Jobs+. YMEN strongly believes that developing life-long relationships with our students will offset the negative external pressures they face in school and on the streets.

YWCA

YWCA is committed to providing 31,000 opportunities in 2012 for low-income and disconnected youth ages 16-24. In support of Summer Jobs+, YWCAs across the country will provide on the job training through job shadow days for approximately 13,000 youth. YWCAs across the country will also offer job readiness and career development opportunities to a minimum of 18,000 youth. Participants will be trained in resume writing, interviewing, and workplace etiquette to help increase their employability.
