PEACHTREE CITY, GA — April 14, 2006 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that been Mr. David Rudy has been named principal of West Point Middle school in the Virginia/New York/Puerto Rico District.

Rudy is currently the principal of Menwith Hill Elementary/High School, a Department of Defense Dependent School (DoDDS-Europe) in Harrogate, United Kingdom. Ruday earned his bachelor's of science degree and his master's of education degree in educational leadership, both from the University of Central Florida.

"David Rudy will bring the stability to West Point Middle School that will allow the students to flourish under his leadership," said District Superintendent Dr. Bruce Jeter. "He is the right fit for the job and comes with an excellent working knowledge of middle school education and DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity.)"

Rudy began teaching as a middle school English teacher in Winter Springs, FL. He joined DoDEA in 1999 as a middle school math and English teacher at Naval Air Station, Sigonella, on the island of Sicily, Italy. He also taught at Darmstadt Middle School, Germany. In January 2002, he was named assistant principal of Viscenza Middle/High School. In 2004 he was appointed to his current position.

Rudy and his wife, Mary Ann, have four young children, ages four to 11.
