Statement on the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2011

Mar 1, 2011 Issues: Transportation

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, March 2, 2011, the House will consider H.R. 662, the “Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2011.”  Congressman Woodall (R-GA-07) issued the following statement:

“This Congress must continue to plug the holes left by the previous Congress.  Chairman Mica has promised to conduct extensive hearings so that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee can bring to the House Floor a clean transportation funding bill.  We need to embrace comprehensive transportation policy that integrates the needs of the federal government with those of state and local transportation agencies.  Common-sense transportation requires a streamlined bill that has deliberate and principled funding allocations for our transportation programs.”

“Constituents in the Seventh District rely heavily on the major highways surrounding our area, including I-85 and I-20, not only for their daily commutes but as gateways for growth and success in the community.  As such, I am eager to move forward in finding ways to improve upon the systems that bring economic prosperity to our country.”
