Ahmed Hussen, National President of the Canadian Somali Congress, testified before the Committee on Homeland Security, chaired by Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), at a July 27, 2011 hearing entitled "Al Shabaab: Recruitment and Radicalization within the Muslim American Community and the Threat to the Homeland." The hearing was the third in a series of hearings on domestic radicalization. Mr. Hussen testified that the radicalization hearings "are very empowering" to the Muslim Community as they prompt the community to discuss the issue of radicalization.

More information on the series of hearings can be found at http://homeland.house.gov/domestic-radicalization-hearings. Chairman King will convene a fifth radicalization hearing, entitled "The American Muslim Response to Hearings on Radicalization within their Community," on June 20.
