The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program announces the opportunity to participate in the pilot of an exciting new assessment service.

The Baldrige Collaborative Assessment is designed to help organizations improve their overall performance, using the world-renowned Criteria for Performance Excellence and experienced senior examiners with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

This assessment offered by the Baldrige Program allows organizations to partner with examiner teams and collaboratively develop recommendations for performance improvement without requiring a written application or extensive preparation. The jointly constructed recommendations are prioritized and reviewed with the organization on the last day of a 4½-day site visit. A full written report detailing all recommendations will be provided after the visit.

It is important to note that the examiner partners will not provide prescriptive advice on how to address the opportunities for improvement. That prescription is left to the organization to decide based on its culture and strategy, and potentially the advisors the organization uses.

In most assessments, an inherent tension exists between the examiners and the organization . . . not in this case. A special feature of this assessment is the flexibility and openness between the organization and the examiner partners due to the collaborative design. In addition, the organization will achieve in-depth learning about the meaning, relevance, and applicability of the Criteria.
