  6. With the disastrous arrival of Hurricane Sandy along the East Coast, many of us are worried about our loved ones living in the affected areas. In harsh weather conditions, communication is made difficult. If you live in an area where a hurricane may strike or have loved ones who do, be ready for severe weather with the Hurricane app by the American Red Cross. You can monitor conditions in your area or throughout the storm track, prepare your family and home, find help, and let others know you are safe even if the power is out. FEMA.gov and Ready.gov also offer tips and resources on how to prepare for a natural disaster. Please be prepared and stay safe.
  7. Was proud to welcome the new digestive care center at Sunday's ribbon cutting. In addition to your long legacy of providing unequaled care for Georgians, thank you Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for opening your new center in Albany, providing the opportunity for even more skilled labor jobs to be based right here in southwest Georgia.

  15. Great news from Columbus State University! The University has received a $1 million grant to develop an online bachelor’s degree program launching in Fall 2013! This program will be particularly beneficial to those who are historically under-served by higher education, such as low-income students and the young adult military population.
