Information Systems Management

Unlike our competition, the MISM program was developed from the ground up as a blended business-technology program. Through our program, you'll develop better planning, management and technical abilities necessary for leading a thriving organization in today's complex, digital world.

The MISM experience offers a fast-paced, three-semester program that has a successful ten-year track record. Students with more than three years of professional work experience can complete the degree in one calendar year (May to May). Students with less work experience are required to perform a summer internship and complete the program in sixteen months.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Master of Information Systems Management program is to prepare the next generation of technology managers to lead enterprises in innovative ways. Schooled in the inter-disciplinary Carnegie Mellon tradition and trained as analytical problem solvers, our graduates will develop and deploy IT to create value for their organizations and society.
Students in the MISM program should be able to:

• Combine business, strategy, and technical skills that can be directly applied in complex business situations; and
• Function effectively in diverse groups and operate in an increasingly connected world.

We achieve this mission through:

• fine-tuning our curriculum and our student selection to optimize our role of being a bridge between technology and management;
• providing curricular and meta curricular opportunities to apply IT/business leaderships skills in projects, clubs, discussions, and competitions;
• engaging with organizations globally as an important element of education and research;
