REPRESENTATIVE DAN BURTON RESPONDS TO THE DEATH OF REPRESENTATIVE TOM LANTOS |
||
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Dan Burton [R-IN-05] issued the following statement expressing his sadness at the death of his colleague and friend, Congressman Tom Lantos [D-CA-12]. Congressman Lantos, who was first elected to Congress in 1980, passed away yesterday at the age of 80. Burton stated: “I was deeply saddened when I heard that Congressman Lantos passed away yesterday. Tom was a tireless fighter for human rights and oppressed people across the world. He was a fine example of the American dream and I, along with all my colleagues, had great respect for him and will miss him. I want to extend my prayers and deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult time.”
