TRAVEL ALERT: Syria

The United States Department of State has issued a new warning for travel to Syria. The warning urges U.S. citizens in Syria to depart immediately. U.S. citizens who must remain in Syria are advised to limit nonessential travel within the country. U.S. citizens not in Syria should defer all travel to Syria at this time.

Pete Testifies before ITC for Third Time in 2011

On April 6, Pete testified before the International Trade Commission on a case involving hot-rolled steel from Brazil, Japan, and Russia. Hot-rolled steel is manufactured at the ArcelorMittal plants in Burns Harbor and East Chicago, and at the United States Steel Corporation plant in Gary.

Pete Introduces Fighting for American Jobs Act of 2011

Continuing the fight for economic recovery in Northwest Indiana, Pete introduced the Fighting for American Jobs Act of 2011. This legislation would prohibit businesses that lay off a greater percentage of their American workers than workers in other countries from receiving any federal assistance.
