AFCT Scoring Program

The Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT) composite score calculations are calculated by summing the products of the subtest standard scores multiplied by varying weights and then subtracting a constant, and therefore require a scoring program to properly derive them.  Only the GT aptitude still has its composite score derived by looking up the sum of the subtest standard scores (SSS) in a conversion table.

Additionally, the 1997 norms for the AFCT was mandated by DAPE-MPA Memorandum, 26 Jan 04, subject:  Implementation of Upgraded Youth Population Norms for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).   This requires the calculated scores to be converted from the 1980 norms that the composite weights yield to the 1997 norms.

The AFCT scoring program is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You must have Microsoft Excel 97 or later installed on your PC to use it. This program will calculate the aptitude area composite scores based on the raw scores from either version of the AFCT, DD Form 1304-AFCT18FB and DD Form 1304-AFCT19GB.

A few minor corrections and format changes have been made to the AFCT 18F and 19G scoring program since it was first released and the current version is dated 25 Jan 08.

The Manpower Accession Policy Working Group has approved the electronic distribution of this automated Army AFCT scoring program..

Although these scoring programs are not Controlled Test Material, they are still For Official Use Only, thus only duly appointed Test Control Officers (TCO), Alternate TCOs, or Test Examiners are authorized to use them.
