Trade Fairs

Enhancing IPR Protection at Trade Fairs.  As part of China’s 2006 IPR Action Plan and JCCT commitments, it has launched a nationwide trade fair plan, the Blue Sky Action, to enhance protection of IPR at trade fairs.  The U.S. Government is exploring ways to support this effort and assist U.S. companies in protecting their IPR at trade fairs.  Please check back on this website for updates on our efforts and future program announcements.  

Through the Blue Sky Action, China has issued new administration regulations for the protection of IPR at trade fairs, “Measures for Protection of IPR at Exhibitions.”  The new regulations, among other things, require the establishment of complaint centers for fairs that last longer than three days as well as the transfer of complaints to administrative authorities within 24 hours.  Below is a link to a trade fair IPR complaint manual prepared by the Chinese government in union with the new regulations, which includes a sample trade fair IPR complaint from; contact information for 10 municipal IPR authorities responsible for handling trade fair complaints; and an FAQ.

IPR infringements at trade fairs should be punished in accordance with Chinese IPR laws.  Please see the relevant administrative, civil and criminal enforcement sections of the toolkit for more information on these actions.
