  PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE MEDIA ADVISORY
  
    On May 22, 1995,  Congressman Norman Y. Mineta (D-CA) will be the keynote speaker
  at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Asian and Pacific American Heritage 
  program. The program begins at noon at the Crystal City Sheraton, Second Floor 
  Ballroom; Congressman Mineta will speak at 12:30.  The theme for this year's 
  commemoration is Equality-Excellence-Empowerment.
  
    The Patent and Trademark Office, located in Crystal City, employs approximately 
  5,000 workers; about 18 percent are Asian-Pacific Americans; their proportion of 
  the total U.S. population is about 3 percent.
