Registrar encourages vote-by-mail voters to verify status of ballot
The discovery of four completed ballots on a residential street in Vallejo has prompted the Registrar of Voters to encourage voters to verify that his office has received their vote-by-mail ballot.

"We want to make sure every person who casts their ballot is confident their vote is counted," said Deputy Registrar of Voters John Gardner.

The Registrar believes the discovery of four completed ballots on a residential street in Vallejo is an isolated incident.  Postal inspectors are conducting an investigation.

In a precautionary measure, the elections staff is attempting to contact those vote-by-mail voters whose ballots had not yet been received from the two precincts from where the found ballots originated.

Hand deliver vote-by-mail ballots if not in mail already
Voters are encouraged to hand deliver their ballots for Tuesday's election if their vote-by-mail ballot isn’t already in the mail.

Ballots must be physically received by the Registrar of Voters office by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, to be part of the official count.  A postmark indicating the ballot was sent before Tuesday does not constitute a valid ballot, according to State election laws.

"Your vote is too important to take the risk," said Deputy Registrar of Voters John Gardner.

The Elections Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 for registered Solano County voters to drop off their vote-by-mail ballots or to cast their vote in the Nov. 6th election.

Elections staff will also be providing curbside service on the Union Avenue side of the County Administration Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week through Saturday.  Voters can drop off their vote-by-mail ballots without leaving their car.

"The goal is to make getting that ballot back to us as easy as possible," said Deputy Registrar of Voters John Gardner.
