USPTO Releases 2001 Patent Statistics

USPTO RELEASES 2001 PATENT STATISTICS Calendar Year numbers are updated on USPTO Web site

PRESS RELEASE

The Department of Commerce's United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) today announced calendar year statistical reports have been updated on the USPTO Web site ( http://www.uspto.gov ) to include data on patent activity through 2001.

These reports present calendar year patent activity in a variety of formats and count patents in several ways including by organization, state and country of origin, and technology class.

The reports include Patenting By Organizations Report, 2001, which lists over 400 organizations that received the most utility patents during the calendar year; Drill-Down Utility Patent Reports by State and Country of Origin, which profile utility patent activity originating from each U.S. state/territory or foreign country and present patenting activity by organization and by technology class; the U.S. Patent Statistics Chart, a one-page summary table presenting U.S. patent application and grant activity, by patent type, from 1963 to 2001; and a report entitled, U.S. Patent Activity, 1790-2001, which shows annual patent counts since 1790.
