Department of Interior Announces Successful Renovation of Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

National Park Service to begin filling Reflecting Pool in coming days; Sustainable, accessible design to re-open to public end of August

WASHINGTON DC -- Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced that the National Park Service will soon begin refilling the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after completing a historic renovation, including replacement of the pool’s structure and installation of a sustainable, state-of-the-art circulation system that pulls water from the Tidal Basin. Nearly 25 million people visit the National Mall each year.

Wrangell St Elias National Park and Preserve Dedicates Kendesnii Campground

​Copper Center, Alaska - Under sunny skies, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve dedicated Kendesnii Campground on July 27th with a naming ceremony and picnic at the Nabesna Road site. Park Superintendent Rick Obernesser opened the event, saying "I am excited that so many of us are here today as we dedicate the park's first official campground."

Many Glacier Hotel Rehabilitation Progresses

​WEST GLACIER, MONT. - The National Park Service has made significant progress towards a seven-phase rehabilitation effort on the Many Glacier Hotel, a National Historic Landmark in Glacier National Park. The hotel's north annex and dining room have been rehabilitated, including 111 guest rooms, kitchen, lounge, administrative offices, and employee areas. Accessible parking and improved guest room access has also been addressed.
