Madison man sentenced to 51 months for possession of child pornography

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jack L. Yates, 52, of Madison, Fla., was sentenced to 51 months in prison Monday on a one-count indictment for possession of child pornography, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Yates had previously pled guilty and was facing up to 10 years in prison.

"This case demonstrates that there are serious consequences for possessing illegal images of innocent children being sexually exploited and traumatized," said Susan McCormick, ICE special agent in charge in Tampa. "ICE will continue to work with our state, local and other federal law enforcement partners to vigorously investigate child predators and ensure that they feel the full weight of the law."

The sentencing hearing was conducted before Chief U. S. District Judge Stephan Mickle.

The case against Yates resulted from a joint investigation by ICE and FDLE involving the use of peer-to-peer networks to share child pornography. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert O. Davis.
