Women Served by the Workforce System in the Four Quarters Ending September, 2009

The total number of women served by the Workforce Investment System in the four quarters ending September 30, 2009 was 15,120,695 million. The Wagner-Peyser program served the largest number of women, 8,763,184, and the Unemployment Insurance Program was the second largest with 5,645,791. Prisoner Reentry Initiative served the smallest number of women, 1,279, and additional 4,315 women were served by its sister program, Youthful Offender Initiative.

Over 600,000 women have been served by Workforce Investment Act programs in Program Year 2009. The number of women served by the WIA Adult program was 395,861. The total served by the Dislocated Worker program was 143,689, and the Youth program served a total of 63,939.

The Trade Adjustment Assistant Program (TAA) served 23,820 women in the four quarters ending September, 2009. More than twice that figure was registered for the Senior Community Service Employment Program which served 58,421 women.

The Registered Apprenticeship program has served 10,193 women, and almost the exact amount of women was served by the Indian and Native American Adult Program and the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP), with 4,614 and 5,589 women served, respectively.
