Croatian and US Soldiers improve Medical Partnership

Pozega, Croatia – Four Soldiers from the 557th Area Support Medical Company, 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, from Baumholder, Germany traveled to the Croatian Army Medical Training Center, in Pozega, Croatia in June 2012 to build relationships for future collaborative training.
"We learned about their entire military medical structure. We were taught about most aspects of their Medical Training Center," said Army Capt. Zebulon Wilkin, the officer in charge from the 557th.
Because they have not met like this before, the Soldiers focused on what they could learn from each other.
"This is the first time that there has been a gathering of this extent of Croatian and U.S. Military medical personnel using open-forum discussions and familiarization," Wilkin said.
"I believe … that we have provided a wonderful platform that will help both countries improve their medical training and ultimately lead to better care for our wounded warriors,” said Wilkin.
The two units are planning future site visits and training opportunities to build on the momentum from this visit.
