Chairman Graves: Now Is the Time to Provide Certainty for Small Businesses

Washington, Oct 5 -

House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement in response to the report by the U.S. Department of Labor that 114,000 jobs were created in September for an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent:

“In an economy in which nearly 23 million people are in need of work, the President’s policies are just not cutting it.  Worse yet, when you add in the people who have given up on looking for work the unemployment rate is closer to 11%. Americans are still suffering with an underemployment rate of 14.7%.  It is obvious that over the last 4 years President Obama’s economic policies have not worked.  We need to shift away from the President's anti-growth policies that include tax increases, rising healthcare costs and expanding red tape to a pro-growth plan that will provide small businesses the certainty they need to grow and create jobs."

Compare the President’s policies to the House Republicans’ Plan for America’s Job Creators and 30-plus House-passed jobs-related bills collecting dust on Sen. Harry Reid’s desk.
