Dr. Morley O. Stone, a member of the scientific and technical cadre of senior executives, is Chief Scientist, 711th Human Performance Wing, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He is responsible for the technical direction of a broad, multi-disciplinary research and development portfolio encompassing human-centric aspects of decision-making, forecasting, human performance and training. 

Dr. Stone earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in biochemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 1997. He then stood up the biotechnology group for AFRL's Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, and grew the team to earn two consecutive Star Team Awards from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Stone accepted an assignment as Program Manager in the Defense Sciences Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. He later served as Chief of the Hardened Materials Branch within the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at AFRL. Prior to his current assignment, Dr. Stone was Senior Scientist, Molecular Systems Biotechnology, for the Human Effectiveness Directorate. He served as the principal scientific authority in the field of biotechnology, specifically molecular systems, for the Air Force. 

Dr. Stone is also the senior adviser to the Bio-X Strategic Technology Team, which fosters and pursues collaborative biotechnology research efforts across the AFRL technical directorates. He has authored more than 70 technical publications and four technical book chapters. He is also on the editorial board of two international scientific journals and is a Fellow of AFRL and the International Optical Engineering Society. Known for his scientific contributions in the field of biomimetics and biologically-inspired materials research, Dr. Stone was appointed as a senior executive in May 2007.
