Brig. Gen. Thomas A. Bussiere is the Commander, 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. He is responsible for the combat readiness of the Air Force's only B-2 wing, including development and employment of the B-2's combat capability as part of the Air Force's Global Strike Task Force. His command provides logistics support for the Air Force Reserve 442nd Fighter Wing; Missouri Air National Guard 131st Bomb Wing; Air Combat Command 20th Reconnaissance Squadron; Missouri Army National Guard 1st Battalion, 135th Aviation Unit; and the Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 11 Security Detachment D. He manages flying assets in excess of $46 billion and an annual operations and maintenance budget of $147 million.

General Bussiere is a 1985 distinguished graduate of Reserve Officer Training Corps from Norwich University. He has held a variety of flying, staff and command assignments including the Inspector General, Headquarters, Air Force Global Strike Command; Advanced Programs Division, Headquarters, Air Combat Command; and duty as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Camp Victory, Baghdad Iraq. He commanded the 325th Bomb Squadron, 13th Bomb Squadron and 509th Operations Group at Whiteman AFB, Mo. General Bussiere is a graduate of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies and the U.S. Army War College Advanced Strategic Arts Program.

General Bussiere is a command pilot with more than 3,300 hours in the T-38, F-15C and B-2. He led F-15C combat missions during operations Southern Watch and Vigilant Warrior and B-2 combat missions during operations Allied Force and Iraqi Freedom.
