Maj. Gen. Louis A. Crigler is mobilization assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He provides advice and expertise on Air Force Reserve accessibility, mission areas and readiness requirements for Reserve augmentation of the Air Force.
General Crigler entered the Air Force in June 1960 as a distinguished graduate of the University of Kentucky Reserve Officer Training Corps program. While on active duty, he flew C-135s and C-54s. He left active duty in May 1967 and accepted his first Reserve assignment as a mobilization augmentee to the Director of Operations, 357th Air Base Group, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He was assigned to the 514th Military Airlift Wing (Associate), McGuire AFB, Calif., during their transition to the C-141, and he was one of the first Reservists to complete the transition training. He is a command pilot, having flown more than 12,000 hours, principally in C-135, C-54, C-141, 8-707, L-1011, 8-747, DC-9 and military and civilian aircraft.
In his civilian occupation, he is a captain for an international airline.
