Dr. Daniel L. Atkins, a Defense Intelligence Senior Leader, is the Technical Advisor for the Director of Intelligence and the Director of ISR and Requirements, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Dr. Atkins provides guidance to over 750 Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System and Military personnel supporting over 1,000 research, acquisition, test, and sustainment programs. He is the principal technical advisor and expert on intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and acquisition intelligence to both the AFMC Director, Intelligence and Director, ISR and Requirements. He provides strategic vision and direction for all ISR matters and provides senior leadership and strategic vision for the AFMC acquisition intelligence workforce. Dr. Atkins develops/implements policies and procedures to integrate ISR throughout the development and acquisition enterprise.

Dr. Atkins has over 30 years of experience in the science, engineering, research, academic and intelligence communities, including service at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, the Air Force Research Laboratory, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, and Fortune 500 companies.

His experience spans both the public and private sectors. Dr. Atkins developed policy and guidance to enhance and optimize S&TI analysis in support of the DoD Intelligence and Acquisition Communities. His finished intelligence work has gained national prominence and has been briefed to senior national leaders, including the President, Congress, and senior DOD leadership. He directed NASIC's GEOINT/MASINT Innovation Squadron developing and transitioning new ISR capabilities to the operational environment. As Air Force ISR Agency A2, Director of Analysis and Applications, he was responsible for developing and advocating intelligence capabilities dedicated to the fusion and in-depth analysis of information vital to sustaining the full-spectrum Air Force ISR mission. He exercised staff management and direction of HQ Air Force ISR Agency staff personnel and associated resources involved in analytic functions at more than 70 locations worldwide involving over $300 million in annual expenditures. He was the Commander's primary ISR analytical advisor and subject matter expert. He has managed laboratory resources and personnel, performed research, and has overseen the development of new technologies for the United States Air Force.
