Brig. Gen. William E. "Ed" Albertson is the mobilization assistant to the Director, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.

General Albertson is a 1969 distinguished graduate of the U.S. Army's Engineer Officer Candidate School, Fort Belvoir, Va. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the intelligence branch and served as an automated data processing plans and operations officer at the National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Md. While there he designed and implemented computer software operating systems that supported exploitation of signals intelligence.

The general left active duty in 1972 but continued his military affiliation as an individual mobilization augmentee in the U.S. Army Reserve, Office of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Washington, D.C. In 1976, he transferred to the Air Force Reserve individual mobilization augmentee program. He has performed duties as an auditor with the Air Force Audit Agency, a computer systems development officer designing automated intelligence applications, and as an intelligence officer at the base, numbered air force, major command and unified command levels.
