Living with Acquired Disabilities: -
at Work, at Home, and in Community

On June 8, 2012, NCD will host a one-day forum to explore issues related to Veterans and civilians with acquired disabilities at the University of California, Los Angeles. Topics include training, education, and employment after acquiring a disability. A diverse team of federal policy makers, professionals and experts will address the question, "What now?" asked by those re-entering life with a disability due to injury, illness, combat wounds or other circumstances.

Special Guests Include:

  • Kareem Dale, Special Assistant to the President and Associate Director of the Office of White House Engagement
  • Patricia Shiu, Director , Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, U.S. Department of Labor
  • Representatives from the National Council on Disability , Veterans and other key federal agencies


Due to the limitation of space, this event is by invitation only. Representation of self-advocates, family members, community and professional allies, government representatives, non-profit organizations, and service and support providers is a top priority. Information shared at the forum will be posted on the NCD website following the event.
