This MiG-17F was designed by the Mikoyan-Guryevich Design Bureau and license-built in Poland as an LiM-5, S/N 1C0406. It was purchased from the Polish government by Classics in Aviation, Inc., in 1988. Eventually it was placed in storage at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, and became property of the U.S. Air Force Museum Program.
The aircraft was acquired by Hill Aerospace Museum in March 2002 and was restored for exhibit by the 388th Fighter Wing. It arrived at the museum on September 14, 2002.
