ESGR, a Department of Defense organization, is comprised of dedicated and trained volunteers and staff. We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members.

ESGR informs and educates service members and their civilian employers regarding their rights and responsibilities governed by the Unifrom Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). ESGR does not have statutory authority to enforce, but serves as a neutral, free resource to employers and service members. ESGR’s trained ombudsmen provide mediation of issues relating to compliance with USERRA.

June 11, 2012Hiring Our Heroes Event Successful in West Virginia
The event was attended by 67 veteran friendly employers and 132 job seekers on the WVU-Parkersburg campus.  There were 132 job seeker registrants with a significant no-show number.  Ironically, due to local advertising by all available media sources (at no cost), walk-in veterans, guardsmen and reservists still added up to 132.  Advertising pays off.  The no-show rate for employers was 14%, a lower than average figure nationally.
