The center is accepting applications for the spring 2013 class of the Rural Economic Development Institute. With nearly 900 graduates, the institute has earned national recognition for its combination of economic development education and leadership training. Federal grant to boost manufacturing in eastern N.C.


The Rural Center and partnering organizations will launch an intensive effort this fall to stimulate manufacturing growth in a six-county region of eastern North Carolina. Aided by a federal grant, the long-term project will focus on strengthening aerospace and automotive manufacturing in Lenoir, Greene, Wayne, Wilson, Edgecombe and Pitt counties. Read more.

 

$3.4 million in grants to create nearly 350 jobs, provide clean water


The Rural Center has awarded 24 grants totaling $3.4 million to create jobs, provide clean water and assist with economic development in rural counties. The grants will create 349 jobs and aid projects in 16 counties. The center's board of directors approved the grants on August 22. Read more.

 

N.C. Entrepreneurship Summit coming soon


The 2012 North Carolina Entrepreneurship Conference takes place Sept. 24-25 in Asheville. Bijoy Goswami, founder of the Bootstrap Network, will keynote the event. Campbell medical school captures interest
