Emergency Preparedness

Dec. 10, 2012 - Dec. 13, 2012--This is a 36-hour training program for 2-person teams from states. The program will concentrate on the methods, practices, and procedures needed to effectively manage small-scale through large-scale emergencies through the Incident Command System for Corrections (ICSC) and coordinate with the requirements of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Overview

The ICSC program will provide practical methodology for the implementation of the NIMS model at the institutional level. It is completely compatible with NIMS and designed to seamlessly transition from ICSC into NIMS. The program will deliver information on the Incident Command Systems for Corrections through a variety of challenging and educational activities. These activities will include tour of local correctional facilities, observing an ICSC exercise in a correctional setting, practicing correctional situation simulations, and module training on ICSC.

Audience

Two-person teams consisting of correctional central office staff and regional administrators/ directors with oversight for emergency preparedness, wardens/ superintendents, deputy/ assistant wardens, chiefs of security, and institution critical incident managers.
