The mission of Office of the Chief Economist is to support NCUA’s safety and soundness goals through providing economic intelligence and enhancing NCUAs understanding of emerging microeconomic and macroeconomic risks, producing meaningful and robust modeling and risk identification tools, participating in agency and inter-agency policy development, and developing new initiatives. 

 

Chief Economist – John D. Worth

Worth's pictureJohn D. Worth is the Chief Economist of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Prior to joining NCUA, Dr. Worth spent nearly a decade at the U.S. Treasury, and served as Director of the Office of Microeconomic Analysis between 2003 and 2010 and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Microeconomics during 2008. At Treasury, Dr. Worth’s office oversaw policy development and research on entitlements, health care, private pensions and housing issues. Dr. Worth also worked as a consultant for Welch Consulting and the RAND Corporation.

Dr. Worth holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Southern California.
