12/17/2010 - U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFNS) -- Cadet singers with the cadet a cappella group "In the Stairwell" performed live for all Southern Colorado Dec. 10, with an appearance on a local TV station's mid-morning news program.

This is the second year that In the Stairwell, an unofficial cadet group that performs in the local community, has appeared on live television.

The cadets performed a 'mash-up' mix consisting of several parts of many different holiday classics and contemporary songs. The members switched between several songs to surprise other members of the group and kept singing until the credits rolled for the end of the television newscast.

In The Stairwell started in 2004 when several freshman cadets decided to start a singing group. Because of the restrictions on freshman cadets, the dormitory stairwells were the one place they could meet and perform. Since that time, In The Stairwell has released three CDs and helped populate the ever-growing library of YouTube. They also perform year-round for official functions in the local area.
