IDE/GTN Convergence (IGC)

The IGC Program is a partnership between the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and DLA through the Program Executive Office (J62). IGC is designed to provide the DOD with an integrated set of networked, end-to-end visibility, deployment, and distribution capabilities. The end goal of IGC is to effectively support the Joint Force Commander's ability to make decisions based on actionable logistics information. DLA's Enterprise Business System capability leverages the Enterprise Data capability to achieve the required enterprise architecture compliance and the desired net-centric end state.

The IGC is synchronized with guidance from the USTRANSCOM Distribution Portfolio Manager (DPFM), DLA PEO, and USTRANSCOM DPEO and is comprised of multiple development increments to leverage planned IDE enhancements, synchronize with several other USTRANSCOM / Distribution Process Owner (DPO) / Joint development initiatives, and inject investment into the converged environment rather than the old GTN infrastructure.

IGC CAPABILITIES

IGC Capabilities support all of the DLA's three Areas of Focus as follows:

Warfighter Support Enhancements

  • IGC delivers state-of-the-art capability which allows warfighters to perform reporting, ad hoc queries, drill-down, and data mining
  • IGC provides a single point of access to data within DLA and USTRANSCOM, and between DLA/USTRANSCOM and external systems

Stewardship Improvements

  • IGC is deeply involved in maintaining the physical and information assurance integrity of sourced, procured, stored and/or distributed materiel and associated processes and records which is a vital DLA responsibility that continues to be improved
  • IGC is improving the quality and proliferation of logistics data for the DOD Enterprise

Workforce Development

  • The IGC PMO is a composite of DLA and USTRANSCOM personnel and is solidifying a positive and productive working relationship between the organizations as well as with participants and customers from the Military Services resulting in a more well-rounded and knowledgeable workforce

IGC DATA BROKER

The DLA IDE provides data brokering capabilities for IGC and the Data Discovery Portal which provides a means for other systems/programs to discover available data services and its associated metadata, and in turn, prepare to interface with IDE. In the context of the IDE Data Discovery Portal, the metadata available through the Portal describes the data feeds that pass through IDE. The Portal's metadata includes the following types of artifacts/reports:

  • Source formats/schemas
  • Target formats/schemas
  • Logical data definitions
  • Business logic/mappings
  • IDE Data Exchange Services

For more information on engaging with IGC and the IDE Data Broker, new users can navigate to either the IDE Discovery Portal or, for users already registered with GCSS-J, to IDE Discovery Portal (Registered).
