Congresswoman Buerkle to introduce legislation for families of Pan Am 103/Lockerbie bombing
Today, Congresswoman Buerkle released the following statement regarding legislation she is introducing on behalf of the families of the victims of the December 21, 1988 Pan Am 103/Lockerbie bombing. The act of terror resulted in the death of 270 people, 178 of whom were American, including 35 Syracuse University students returning from a semester abroad in London. “With Libya once again in the news for horrific crimes against Americans, it is a time to remember those who have suffered at the hands of Qaddafi and his regime of terror and oppression. Nearly 24 years ago, America sustained one of the worst terrorist attacks the world has ever seen in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Buerkle Takes Medical Device Tax Concerns to the President
Earlier this week Welch Allyn, a global medical device and solutions company headquartered in Skaneateles, New York, announced that it would lay off 275 employees, or 10 percent of its workforce over the next three years. The layoffs come as a direct result of the new 2.3 percent excise tax on the sale of medical devices that was instituted by President Obama’s healthcare law.
