Proactive Disclosures

The types of documents to be posted under (a)(2) (commonly referred to as “(a)(2) documents”) include final opinions and orders rendered in the adjudication of administrative cases, specific agency policy statements and certain administrative staff manuals that affect members of the public. The 1996 amendments to FOIA, often referred to as “e-FOIA,” directed agencies to begin posting certain records online in “reading rooms,” including final opinions, policy statements and staff manuals.
