Chairman Price Votes to Stop President Obama’s “War on Coal”

Washington, D.C.– House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) released a statement following the bipartisan passage of the Stop the War on Coal Act (H.R. 3409), saying:

“In 2008, President Obama promised that ‘if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can – it’s just that it will bankrupt them.’ Clearly, that’s one promise he actually wants to keep.

“New and pending regulations from his Environmental Protection Agency could cost 1.65 million American jobs in less than a decade. This is good-paying, honest work at a time when Americans so desperately seek jobs. Unfortunately, President Obama’s radical environmental agenda has, yet again, gotten in the way of American-made energy and jobs.”

“The ‘Stop the War on Coal Act’ is a step in the direction of stronger economic growth and job creation. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to join us in our fight for a true all-of-the-above energy strategy and the jobs that will come with it.”
