TTB Signs MOU with the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA)
On August 13, 2012, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) Acting Assistant Administrator, Theresa M. McCarthy and ANVISA Director-President Dirceu Brás Aparecido Barbano signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) intended to establish a consistent channel for information exchange regarding imported and exported tobacco products.
The MOU, signed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also seeks to establish a consultative and collaborative process in order to strengthen cooperation in developing technical methodologies for supporting regulatory enforcement efforts, as well as in exchanging information with a view to developing cooperative laboratory testing procedures for tobacco classification and compliance determinations.
