United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Idaho

NRC's Regional Office in Arlington (Region IV) is responsible for carrying out the agency's duties in Idaho. No operating nuclear reactors or fuel cycle facilities are located in Idaho. However, AREVA Enrichment Services has submitted an application to construct and operate a Gas Centrifuge Uranium Enrichment Facility in Idaho Falls, ID, which will be known as the Eagle Rock Enrichment Facility; that application is currently under NRC review. Idaho is not an Agreement State. The state has jurisdiction over x-ray equipment, naturally occurring radioactive materials, and certain radioactive materials that are not produced in a reactor.

More information about Idaho's role in ensuring the safe use of radioactive materials can be obtained from the NRC Office of State Program's Directory of State Regulations, Legislation, and Web Sites.
