Nunn-Lugar Trip Reports
Senator Lugar makes annual oversight trips to Nunn-Lugar sites around the world. Following each of his trips, he issues a report highlighting his meetings and visits.
In his continued effort to counter security concerns no matter the type, Senator Dick Lugar (R-IN) lead a mission to Africa in November 2010 with a team of Pentagon arms control experts to help secure deadly biological diseases, in addition to destroying other lethal armaments as part of the Nunn-Lugar Global program.
May 2009
Senator Lugar celebrated the Nunn-Lugar Chemical Weapons Destruction Facility in Shchuchye, Russia. More than a decade in the making, the facility will destroy nearly 2 million chemical weapons shells and nerve agent that has been stored here since Soviet days. It is arguably the largest facility in the world destroying chemical munitions, and is currently the only operating facility that can accommodate the destruction of 2 million munitions.

In the gap between the Bush and Obama administrations, Senator Lugar met with Russian officials to discuss the future of U.S.-Russia relations, current financial and energy issues, arms control issues including the START and Moscow Treaties, and food security issues.
August 2007
Senator Lugar and Senator Nunn celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Nunn-Lugar program by visiting Russia, Ukraine and Albania. In Russia, Senator Lugar and Nunn became the first Americans to ignite the solid fuel in a rocket motor that was removed from
an SS-25 intercontinental ballistic missile.
