As part of a federal interagency group headed by the Department of Energy, the U.S. Navy is presently developing an approach for accurately calculating its total greenhouse gas emissions footprint. The Navy (and the Department of Defense) has committed to a 34 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
