Rep. Cory Gardner on Obama Administration’s Disturbing Pattern of Rewarding Billions in Green Handouts to Supporters

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) appeared on Fox Business Channel’s Willis Report last evening to discuss the Obama administration’s disturbing pattern that those with close ties to the administration have been rewarded with billions of taxpayer dollars. The list of stimulus beneficiaries include Former Vice President Gore, top Obama supporter and billionaire George Kaiser, and Venture Capitalist Steve Westly, who have all benefited from the administration’s green bonanza in the rush to spend stimulus cash.

Gardner also discussed Solyndra’s ongoing bankruptcy as well as the committee’s investigation into the Department of Energy’s $400 million loan guarantee to now-bankrupt Abound Solar, which is located in his Colorado congressional district. Abound, the third DOE stimulus loan guarantee to go bankrupt following Solyndra and Beacon Power, appears to have been selling faulty solar panels while receiving taxpayer dollars. The recent string of bankruptcies are evidence that the Obama administration has failed at picking winners and losers, but it is further troubling that those being picked as “winners” have close ties to the administration and are supporters of the president.
