This position is located in the Phoenix Field Division, Tucson, Arizona District Office.  This position serves as a senior technical operations specialist for the Tucson Field Division.  The incumbent provides oversight and program support to the Division in one of four technology operation areas of specialization: Internet protocol, audio/video and tracking surveillance, radio communications and telecommunications interception.  In addition, the incumbent provides technical operations support to case agents in the Division in the same areas as well as in the interception of digital devices, phones and the interception systems, installation and dismantling of systems, testing and maintenance of equipment and administrative duties associated with the function. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining liaison with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies;private industry and the department of defense on matters of mutual technical investigative assistance.

Grade 12: Qualifying experience for the GS-12 level includes one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, and improving communications systems, procedures and requirements that demonstrates knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.  Such experience involves monitoring installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and systems; establishing procedures for service; and repair and preparing procedures to implement agency telecommunications operations guidance.

 

Grade 13:   Qualifying experience for the GS-13 level includes one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing and improving communications systems, procedures and requirements that demonstrate knowledge of current developments and trends in communication concepts and technology.  Such experience involves making recommendations and proposals for using new and advanced equipment and techniques; installing and testing new, standardize telecommunication equipment, and conducting a variety of technical evaluations on a wide-range of systems.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)/Competencies:  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

 

1. Knowledge of telecommunications technologies systems capabilities and equipment operating characteristics.

2. Ability to communicate effective other than in writing.

3. Ability to communicate in writing.

4. Ability to plan and execute work.

5. Knowledge of administrative rules and procedures for telecommunications functions.

6. Ability to research, analyze and prepare written telecommunications policies, reports and procedures.
