8/7/2012 - LAS VEGAS -- Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., announced the winners of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Military Awards at the organization's 41st annual convention here Aug. 1.

The annual TAI Military Awards recognizes four service members who have logged continuous achievements that parallel the spirit, goals and ideas of the Tuskegee experience.

The awards are named after Tuskegee Airmen, who not only answered the nation's call, but distinguished themselves during the process. The awards were presented during TAI's military luncheon.

"Our 2012 winners exemplify the desire and drive that distinguished them above others in making significant differences, both professionally and through community service," said retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Leon Johnson, president, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. "We are pleased to honor and highlight their achievements."

The Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Award was presented to Maj. Boris Shif, 316th Training Squadron director of operations at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. The award is presented to a field grade officer who has exhibited outstanding performance in both professional and community service.

The Capt. Robert W. Williams Award was presented to Capt. Craig H. Neuman, C-130H pilot and resource manager with the 16th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon AFB, N.M. The award is presented to a company grade officer who has exhibited outstanding performance in both professional and community service.

The Chief Master Sgt. Fred Archer Award was presented to Master Sgt. Ramiro A. Castro, readiness flight chief and tanker mission planner with the 615th Contingency Response Wing at Travis AFB, Calif. The award is presented to a senior NCO who has exhibited outstanding performance in both professional and community service.

The Senior Master Sgt. Margaret Barbour Frances Award was presented to Staff Sgt. Christopher C. Faxon, special air missions communications systems operator with the 99th Airlift Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, Md. The award is presented to an NCO who has exhibited outstanding performance in both professional and community service.
