The money for the bowling team probably comes out of the Air Force Services Agency's MWR funds rather than appropriated funds. The reason none of us can buy toner is because Congress has yet to pass a spending bill for FY2011. And frankly I'm glad we have bowling teams golf teams etc. Yes we're warfighters, but we're people too. We can't lose sight of that.

Just think of the recruiting possibilities a good bowling team or program can bring

@MSgt if you're in the same unit I was, stock up on toilet paper. They'll run out of it before the end of the fiscal year. My new unit gives us everything we need guess they budget their money better. Glad I wasn't there for the snow.

Check out the link to usafsports. Apparently we have bowling boxing cross country golf marathon raquetball rugby shooting taekwondo track and field triathalon and wrestling teams AND mens and womans basketball soccer softball and volleyball teams. After reading the FAQ it seems that these are all fully funded Permissive TDY or if you are Reserve component they will put you on MPA days Travel and lodging paid. How cool is that? How much money is being spent on these programs? A sponsored raquetball team You gotta be kidding me.

Take it easy people, It's a great sport, fosters team spirit and it's something we all can do. If we really want to comment on tax dollars then look at those spent on advertising for a sport in watching grown men kick the heck out of each other in the octagon or go around a circular track in a very expensive car.

Great. The next time we need to defeat our enemies by rolling a rock down a slippery sidewalk we'll know exactly where to turn. But in this era of looming budget cuts why are we investing in this?
