Helmet, The Right Equipment

The proper equipment saves lives!

Every time you ride a bicycle:

  • Wear a bike helmet and make sure it fits properly.
    - In a crash, a helmet is your best protection against an injury or even death.
  • Stay visible.
    - Wear bright colors during the day.
  • At night or during low light conditions (dusk, dawn, rain, fog), wear reflective materials.
    - Use a white front light and a red rear reflector at night.
  • Check the bike.
    - Make sure the bicycle fits you.
    - Check all parts of the bicycle to make sure that they are secure and working correctly.
  • Remember that a bicycle is considered a vehicle.
    - Always ride in the same direction as motorized traffic.
    - Follow the rules of the road for motorized vehicles, know and obey the traffic laws, signs, and signals, and signal when turning.
  • Remember that children look up to you and learn from you.
    - Be a role model by teaching, practicing, and reinforcing safe bicycling behavior.

Don’t put you and your family’s life at risk. Pedal safely.
