How much do genetic workers get paid?      Amy Gaviglio: I am a genetic counselor working for the Minnesota Department of Health. My particular focus is in newborn screening and ethical/legal issues with genetics and genetic testing. It depends on the profession: Geneticist versus Genetic Researcher versus Genetic Counselor, but in general, people working in genetics are well-compensated. You can go to the AAMC or NSGC for up-to-date salary information. Regardless of monetary compensation, we are all well-paid intrinsically as genetics is such a dynamic and fascinating field!
