Rep. Pompeo Votes to Repeal Tax on Middle-Class Families: Obamacare

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Mike Pompeo (KS-04), a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee, today voted in favor of repealing Obamacare.  Late last month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the individual mandate to purchase health insurance is constitutional under Congress’ taxing power.   The repeal passed on a vote of 244 to 185.  It is now up to the Senate to consider the measure.

Congressman Mike Pompeo released the following statement:

“One of my very first votes in Congress was to repeal Obamacare, and today my colleagues and I again voted to repeal the President’s trillion-dollar takeover of the nation’s healthcare system.   Obamacare not only infringes on personal freedom and places Washington bureaucrats between doctors and patients, it levies over $500 billion in new taxes on the middle class.  Today, every citizen knows where their representative stands on this critical issue.  This Fall, the American people will get to choose who will represent them in Congress and the White House.  I hope next year we will have a Republican majority in the Senate and President Romney in the White House so that we can finally repeal this job-destroying law once and for all.”
