Special guest to join press conference call; conference conveners to detail volunteer efforts to preserve the Gulf Coast
NEW YORK—The conveners of the world's largest gathering of service and volunteer leaders will announce the location and dates of their 2011 event on a press conference call on Wednesday, June 30 at 1:30 PM ET.
Patrick Corvington, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and Michelle Nunn, CEO of Points of Light Institute and Co-Founder of the HandsOn Network, will be joined on the call by prominent figures from the 2011 host city. Corvington and Nunn will be speaking from New York at the conclusion of the 2010 National Conference, which is being co-hosted by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and New York service organizations and has drawn a record attendance of 5,000 people.
Nunn and Corvington also will detail current and planned volunteer mobilization efforts taking place in the Gulf Coast region to strengthen local communities and preserve the environment in the face of the BP oil spill.
