Rep. Gowdy’s Bill For Alterations To Opportunity Scholarships Passes Committee SOAR Technical Corrections Act Passes the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement after the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform unanimously passed his bill.  H.R. 3237, SOAR Technical Corrections Act amends the original SOAR Act to clarify the scope of coverage.  Representative Gowdy sponsored this legislation and chairs the Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee with jurisdiction over the District of Columbia.

 

 “Education and hard work pave the road to success and SOAR allows students access to the school of their choice.  It empowers parents irrespective of economic status.”

 

Representative Gowdy co-sponsored H.R. 471, the SOAR Act. The SOAR Act reauthorized the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program.  The SOAR Act became law on April 15, 2011.
