Trade Agreements: The U.S. and Mozambique signed a Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in 2005. The last high-level meeting under the TIFA took place in January 2012. See attached press release for more information. The U.S. and Mozambique also signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) that came into force in 2005.

Imports

Mozambique was the United States' 147th largest supplier of goods imports in 2011.

U.S. goods imports from Mozambique totaled $35 million in 2011, a 46.0% decrease ($30 million) from 2010.

The five largest import categories in 2011 were: Ores, Slag and Ash (titanium ores) ($14 million), Edible Fruit and Nuts (cashew nuts) ($8 million), Iron and Steel Products ($6 million), and Precious Stones (rubies) ($3 million), and Special Other (returns) ($859 thousand).
